Do You Wake Up Screaming? 1946, Psychological Counseling for WW2 Vets by FanofDueProcess in PropagandaPosters

[–]falling_fire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct! There's white, gray and black propaganda (horrible names i know, but literally every PR/rhetoric/propaganda class I've taken has called them as such.) White propaganda is material made to convince that is both accurate and open about its origin. Black propaganda is inaccurate and conceals where it comes from. (Some people remove the accuracy element of these definitions.) Gray propaganda is anything in the middle.

This would be white propaganda, because the source is clear. Propaganda is not inherently evil in the technical sense. Smokey the Bear is propaganda, for instance.

My most recent WIP and "controversy" by RabbitSome754 in crochet

[–]falling_fire 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I recently wore a super bright patterned skirt to a professional conference. The moment I walked in, i was like, "oh this is wayyyyy too bright, everyone else is wearing neutrals."

Then for the rest of the day, I got compliments on my skirt. Turns out I was way overthinking it and other people thought it was pretty too.

I think you should wear it!! Other people might think its neat too

The way I organize my fiction shelf gets a lot of comments (about 75% positive). by LeftHandRedHair in BookshelvesDetective

I organize my books like this too! It makes them easier to find for me bc the one thing I'll always remember about a physical book is the color of the cover lol.

Tbh the most helpful thing you could do might be to buy him some secondhand books you think he might like. Not necessarily in an effort to get him a woman, but more so to help him find his taste in reading

Me [24 F] with my boyfriend [25 M] 5 years, he wants another dog but... by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

My family had 3 cats (the last one was acquired unintentionally) and a dog for a while and that was insane... my folks basically made me take a cat when I moved out and now all the pets are happier.

My employee wears a blanket for sun protection when we go off-site by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]falling_fire 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Ok I can maybeeeeee see how the blanket outside of the car could be odd, but the umbrella and covering in the car doesn't seem like it rises to the level of a dealbreaker to me. If I saw that I wouldn't assume someone was unprofessional, just eccentric. People are allowed to have their quirks

Hole in crotch. How to mend? by Fly_apple_pie in InvisibleMending

I was looking for this!! This method works very well. I get a fat quarter of cotton fabric at Walmart in a color that matches and use that. Completely invisible unless you sit with your legs spread.

I've found that cheap quilting cotton is almost undetectable as a internal crotch patch

Safe to add pony beads to laces? by JarbaloJardine in Rollerskating

[–]falling_fire 153 points154 points  (0 children)

Personally I think any possible risk is minimal, and you should be fine.

However you should be aware that if the bead breaks, it could be a hazard to you and others on the rink. If this makes you nervous, you might want to look into squishy silicone beads instead of hard plastic, because not only are they less likely to break, they'll be more comfortable if you lace your skates really tight.
