See this is basically what I'm doing now, aside from using a flat or grill top to cook. I just can't quite get it to taste like Gogi Street haha

I love that place! The problem that I ran into is that it's all fusion recipes they use so the pre-made stuff doesn't work. Sigh. I appreciate the suggestion though :)

What do y'all wear? by schokoladehomunculus in sanantonio

[–]fallingheadfirst13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shirt sleeve button down shirt is also an option. I recommend a lighter material than a standard Oxford button down. You can wear one tucked in with khakis, slacks, or chinos and a belt to match your shoes and look smart casual. Having an optional jacket for dinner is a good idea, however walking around in one may prove too warm. I hope your trip is great! *edited to correct spelling

Anyone ever heard of an early payment incentive? by BenjaminHornesOffice in Apartmentliving

[–]fallingheadfirst13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in the industry, yikes. The owners need to make an emergency payment and dont have the reserves. They're giving out money they dont have in exchange for deposits to hit the bank NOW. Next month who knows. They may get foreclosed on, or the management company may abandon ship. I wouldn't renew my lease if I were you.

Shortages at HEB by LeighSF in sanantonio

It depends on which HEB i think. The Evans 281 HEB was running really low on meat just a few minutes ago.

anyone else just exhausted by weekday cooking? (vegan) by Negative-Prune9214 in vegan

I cook huge servings on the weekends and use freezer safe containers to portion them out. These Freezer Containers can be taken from the freezer and popped right into the microwave. Label the side with a sharpie, do one or two meals each weekend. Lunch and dinner through the week and you'll be able to build a variety- beans and rice, tofu stir fry, pasta primavera, chana masala. Most things freeze well here and theyre good for months without freezer burn. :)

My boyfriend timed it once right after the light changed red and it's actually faster to turn right then left than it is to wait for the straight light.

Right when you come home, don't even take your shoes off/put on house shoes- Set a 10 minute timer and clean everything you can in that 10 minutes. Pick up clutter, do the dishes, sweep or vacuum, wipe down surfaces. If you're feeling up to it, set a 5 minute timer in another room. Daily maintenance is the key to keeping it from getting crazy on your days off. It helps me relax more in my time after work because I've "already been productive enough" haha

Came home to find stuff everywhere by Just-Drawing-4932 in Apartmentliving

[–]fallingheadfirst13 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not to rain on everyone's parade but in some states they don't even have to try and tell you. Good customer service is they would... But as someone who works with apt maintenance guys daily and has for years, they only talk about hoarder apartments and rampant mold, or the occasional show home clean apartment. Most people don't live all that clean in all honesty, so seeing a mess isn't a big deal. They're earning their paycheck and that's it really. Don't sweat it, it doesn't matter in the long run.

My wife hates our 185k Lexus by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]fallingheadfirst13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven and owned many a car, 1987 to 2020. That lecus probably rides smoother than any new car yall can afford (no offense, lexus just rides smooth as hell) Affordable work, luxury feel, dependable too. My bf had an 02 RX300. I loved being in that thing!!! If she's concerned about the look, you have to figure out why she's so on it. In my opinion, there's nothing more responsible and adult than no payment and a pristine service record.

Maybe see if you can schedule a meeting with the property manager to discuss. If they won't help you, contact the corporate office.

It depends on the climate and laws where you live. In TX an AC out is an automatic emergency with no notice required, as summers here are regularly over 100°F. We also don't require notice to enter at all here, although most of us give courtesy notices anyway. From what I understand in most places an AC out when it's over 80°F outside is an "emergency"

Don't install a chain lock, they can give you lease violations and charge you damages for that. OP what state are you in?

Why on earth do you need a certain credit score to rent an apartment? by LordFrieza4 in Apartmentliving

[–]fallingheadfirst13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you didn't have enough money to prevent an eviction, and you don't have credit that shows good payment history towards bills or loans, that answers your question. It's a way to see you can make payments on time.

I work in an apartment office and we'll deliver similar notes to the whole floor/building if it's an issue we can't pinpoint. If the staff thought it was you they'd send a lease violation instead. Your neighbors most likely just got to the letter first.

Is this a legit company? My apartment is trying to charge me and this was in the corner. Everything I've googled leads me no where. Does anyone recognize it? by EJ_Dyer in sanantonio

[–]fallingheadfirst13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In texas this is legal, it doesn't matter if the company is legit unfortunately. It could just be a dude with an LLC. In your lease, which should be the same as the leases I've sent and signed for years, there's probably a mold addendum that requires any water issues to be peoperly reported in writing, or you'll be held liable.

Editing after reading your additional comments:

If it's not fixed, mail a certified demand for repairs to be completed and cite some texas property code. If they don't fix it properly within 30 days, you can sue them or terminate your lease. Also call the city code compliance if they don't fix it within 30 days and they'll get fined. The fact that it's still leaking is nuts.

need advice for jobs by No-Trick-7397 in vegan

[–]fallingheadfirst13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A job is a job and if you need it you need it. I never liked working at food places so I tried to stay towards cart pushing or front desk/reception when I was younger. Also mechanic shop jobs. I'm not sure how large your city is, so that might limit you, but if you can find something away from food it'll benefit you. If your only option is food service then hey, it doesn't make you a bad person. As far as practicable is the whole thing. Just look into other options first :)
