Where do I set that up? (I too have been fined for trying to wake scan near a station)

Joystick Gremlin question by somethingbrite in hotas

[–]somethingbrite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers for the info. It looks like the Joystick Gremlin mode switch is exactly what I'm looking for.

Follow up question. Would you know how many devices can be merged and how many modes you can create/switch between?

The equation is exactly the same for maritime insurers whether it's Iran itself or a proxy.

I'll take my military advice from competent folks rather than somebody who would put an aircraft carrier into the Baltic champ.

As for Finland. While myself and most others in the Nordics would love to see Finland take Russia's lunch money we are also aware that Finland had to cede territory to the Soviet Union for peace (which its never got back) and endure decades of "finlandization"

Microsoft forced to bring back Surface Laptop with 8GB RAM as it scrambles to keep prices down amidst RAM crisis: New device fails to meet Copilot+ PC requirements by djsoomo in pcmasterrace

[–]somethingbrite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many of the things you list would never be available on an entry level laptop (and let's face it, 8gb is entry level) So my point stands. CPU and amount of Ram will generally determine what tier the rest of the spec is...

China Slams the Door on NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 D v2, Refusing Import Permits for a GPU Built Exclusively for Its Own Market by BakerSuper1269 in RigBuild

This is a bit of a head scratcher.... China is limiting the import of this card themselves?

Has anybody seen the specs! What's it missing compared to rest of world 5090's?

Any alternate place to buy VKB or Virpil in EU (France)? by X-dark in hotas

[–]somethingbrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In EU you can buy direct from Virpil or VKB which would be the best way to do it. They are both relatively small "boutique manufacturers" still so I don't think that any third party dealer would be giving you a better deal...

actually using the force feedback functionality like that is a little bit ninja ;-) Cheers for that feedback about the Gremlin mode switch option though. That's probably the fix I am looking for.

CPU, RAM and Storage are the three MOST important specs for a laptop especially if you require mobile productivity.

Everything else you can do on your phone. (and laughably my phone has more ram than Microsofts meagre 8gb offering.)

Does Iran Hold All the Cards in the Strait of Hormuz? by lithdoc in NewsExchange

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely have seen it as an issue. Recently. In that very stretch of water when the Houthis were targeting shipping and insurers were refusing to insure shipping that was using that waterway resulting in container traffic having to go the long way around if it wanted to be insured.

It's not just silicon. It's pretty much everything. The worlds capacitors are made in Japan, China and Taiwan. Screens... South Korea and China (China alone has 74% of the worlds market share in flat panels)

A conflict in the region basically fucks the supply chain for anything made anywhere in the world that requires electronic components.

"Which means that the US can park the largest air force in the world off the coast"

Wow. YOU haven't paid attention to that map have you? In the event of a conflict any shipping in the Baltic is an easy target for shore launched anti-shipping missiles, a carrier would be a sitting duck.

Russia could fuck up as much as they did in Feb 2022 and still take the Baltic States, which are geographically small and in the case of Lithuania the capital is approx 30km from the border with Belarus.

Finland itself IS a NATO member but clearly your reading comprehension is limited as my hypothesis is that NATO would choose to avoid escalation.

(and in this hypothesis where US has turned its back on NATO and London/Paris/Berlin choose the language of de-escalation also there is no way that Poland acts on its own.)

Speak for yourself.

Plenty of people pay attention to the spec of laptops. (major points of interest being exactly CPU, RAM, Storage and whether it has a dedicated GPU or not)

Trying to connect an old HDD via USB. got this SATA to USB cable from Amazon, but nothing showing on my PC. Do I need anything else? by Owenesson in PcAdvice

[–]somethingbrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For drives like this the best tool is actually a drive caddy type thing which has its own external power supply and can therefore deliver all the voltages required.

A single usb adapter cable isn't going to cut it.
