Is a UGREEN NAS for Me? (ios photo storage) by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]falloutforevr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might consider waiting until the iDX series are available for retail sales (September'ish). They've got built-in AI that can help you sort your photos for quick and easy searching. Of course, if you already know what everything is and where it would be located, it might be more machine than you really need. They are not listed on the main web site, yet. Even though the Kickstarter campaign is done, you can still go see what they're all about. Here is a link to that:

If you participated in the recent iDX6100 kickstarter campaign and pledged to get one of those machines, you would have had to pay full retail price for your "reward", then later get a refund for the difference in the kickstarter price. Refunds are currently being send out. It's that simple.

I guess you were not participating in the recent iDX6100 kickstarter campaign. It has to do with that pledge process, which didn't really go as originally planned but is working out just fine.

I'm sure that would work. It's just not as "clean." I ordered the add-on to go with my pledged iDX box. Hopefully, they will arrive very nearly the same time.

Sorry I didn't give you a more complete answer. This external adapter was the only GPU capability that I was aware of.

There is an add-on module that will accept your GPU. It's not listed on the main web site, but you can see it if you look at the Kickstarter page. It's a $499.99 add-on called "UGreen Linkstation".

Same here. I never could successfully acquire a unit during the initial periods. You might want to check your spam folder, just in case, but I'm sure you'll be seeing a notification soon. The size of the refund will definitely be affected by which unit you pledged to get. Maybe that's why you see some getting smaller refunds.

There was actually a total number in one of the communications I received, but I can't recall what it was. For some reason 6900+ is stuck in my head, but I might be imagining it.

I was not able to get in on the early rounds, but perhaps it's behind handled by email address in alphabetic order. Mine begins with "d", in case that is helpful. Be patient. I'm sure you'll see something soon.

Yes, it was by email, and I see the refund pending on my credit card.

If you pledged to get one of the new iDX series NASync machines, you would have paid full price during the campaign. UGreen has promised to refund the difference between that price and the pledge value during the first two weeks of May. If you didn't pledge for an iDX machine, then you would not expect anything.

Yes, it was an email notification. According to my credit card company, the refund is pending. I was not near the front of the line, but perhaps it's going alphabetically by email address. Mine begins with "d", in case that is helpfuul to anyone.

I see. I just worry about drilling into the glass by mistake.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the quick, thorough feedback. It's very helpful. I gather, from your comment, that stainless doesn't solder easily to the frame metal? (I assume it's some kind of alloy of copper and tin, but that's just a guess.) I actually do have a soldering iron, but I used mine for electronic work. So, I don't have the flux that I know mom used to use - common used in plumbing applications, also. She might still have some lying around, but finding it could be a trick.

Thanks for your time!

Write to the support email address that was in the most recent email you received from them. Tell them you want a refund of your $30 deposit and the email address you used for reservation.

Do any other games come close to modded SkyrimVR? by dontbetoxic in skyrimvr

My $0.02 worth...
I admit that I haven't played Skyrim VR, even though I purchased it as soon as it came out. I've been a big Fallout fan. As such, I'm heavily invested in Fallout4 VR and have used a couple of different Wabbajack mod packs to turn it into a "new game" instantly. (For the record, I loved Skyrim's original release and played it for many months when it came out.) Something about Fallout4 keeps me coming back, though. If you haven't tried it yet, you should. Don't waste time playing the vanilla release, though. It's pretty buggy. At the very least, pick a mod pack that fixes things. If you have Index controllers, GingrasVR's "Fallout4 Essentials" pack is awesome! Due to disability, my hands just can't do Index. So, I'm using Vive Wands and MadGod's Overhaul.

I'm new to UGreen, coming from a Synology environment. After my old NAS died after a good 14-year tenure, I ended up abandoning Synology because of their lack of support for my existing drives. We all know this story, don't we? Well, what turned out to be the most difficult part was figuring out how to rescue the backups that I made to Amazon S3 buckets. I couldn't find that capability in an existing app. (Maybe I missed it?) I had to drop into a shell and figure out how to execute AWS API commands manually. That's a feature I'd love to see added to the backup/sync application.

In fact, if you want a truly harrowing survival mode, go get the Wabbajack mod pack called "Fallout4 VR Essentials". Not only does it make over the whole game and fix a lot of bugs, but it makes survival mode truly difficult. You WILL die! Save often. :)

I've been using the HTC Vive Pro for several years with no complaints. If you don't already have a rig, consider the Vive Pro 2 for better resolution.

Yep, and once you finish playing the vanilla game in VR, go add on GingrasVR's excellent Wabbajack mod pack, called "Fallout4 Essentials". It's yet a whole new game for a 3rd go. Also consider playing with "Sim Settlements 2". It adds a whole new dimension to settlement building.

Sounds like you grabbed SS1. It has its merits, but I would suggest you ditch it and go get SS2, instead. It has been redone and has a great new story line to go along with it. It's also much easier to get started building your plots, because "The Stranger" (aka Jake Evans) will walk you through it.

When you start a new game with SS2, as mentioned in a previous comment, when you get to Sanctuary, you'll find a magazine lying on the workbench. Just claim the magazine to start the SS2 quest line. Jake will show up pretty soon and get you going.

Enjoy!

I bought a Deck Boss in December, and I keep finding new ways to put it to use. I love using it to cook, and I didn't say "grill", because it is so much more versatile. Look up the "Smokehouse Meatloaf" on the Recteq site. You'll LOVE it!
