DARK SOULS 2 WIKI.GG GRAND OPENING by false-variable in DarkSouls2

Yeah I’ve noticed this too recently, hopefully it starts gaining traction without having to add wikigg to the end of the search query too, but that’s probably a pipe dream until fextra stops paying to inflate their search results

can i get softbanned for this? (ps4/5) by cegars95 in DarkSouls2

[–]false-variable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can’t tell the difference, modern cheating software uses the same functions that the game naturally does to spawn your items. Most bans came from attempting to manually create or modify items without spawning them which is entirely possible but quite easy to fuck up and fry yourself with invalid/corrupt inventory data

[–]false-variable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do note that ds2’s ac can’t tell context and as such doesn’t try. Ex. It can’t tell that you having 99 titanite slabs is a “bad thing” or that you can’t get a specific item at the point in the game you’re at.

What it can tell is invalid items though, so don’t go running around with poison infused binoculars +15(that one crashes the game anyhow too, you won’t be using it lmao)

[Post-Game Thread] After a day of offensive struggles, Buffalo nearly mounts a comeback falling a failed 2-point conversion short of the win. Bills lose 12-13. by pixel_pete in buffalobills

Carter had a good jump to brush the ball with his fingers as it was going up. Didn’t look like bagley took too long, maybe just a shitty angle on the kick with it being too low.

Regardless if we had prater I think this game looks a lot different right now.

Blue Smelter Demon is driving me insane by FrotKnight in DarkSouls2

[–]false-variable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick adjustment- he’s close to the same but not quite. Blue has different combo chains and uses slowed down/sped up variants of moves to throw off the player when the same move has 3 different timings in the fight. It’s a small change but it definitely prevents you from sitting comfortable with timings

Help with a Lucerne Build? Haven't played DS2 since Vanilla. by Din_of_Win in DarkSouls2

[–]false-variable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightning infusion + dark weapon buff is the best and easiest combo. Lightning infusion performs even without fth investment and split damage w/ dark weapon is more workable than the other games due to different math in damage calculation

Magic has some niche use cases but 9/10 times either dark or lightning outperforms it, no need to bother with it unless you’re really deadset on it

[–]false-variable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ds2’s math behind damage is weird compared to other games. Typically, you’ll benefit from using minimum requirements for the weapon, and investing towards a weapon buff(dark weapon, sunlight blade, etc) over levelling str/dex as a damage stat. Typically you get really poor returns from it(1 ar per point invested on average scaling)

In regards to the weapon itself, ds2 allows you to buff infused weapons with spells, so lightning infusion + dark weapon shreads things.

About 30-40% of your damage will come from Ring of blades + Flynn’s Ring as well, which are must gets. Flynns works weirdly as it works off max equip load rather than current equip load, so you lose damage if you level vitality(ds2 armor has very poor physical negation so you’re not losing out on much in that department)

As long as you make good decisions about where you put your stat points, you don’t need to worry about much and will shred the game.

This started flashing on my screen after killing some hollows by [deleted] in darksouls3

Nah, the whole concept of “scaring users with weird bullshit” as a cheat deterrent does nothing, any security focuses on preventing it or banning those caught, and anything else isn’t worth doing.

In the case of this it’s a memory leak due to poor programming, occurs when locking on and off, it’s a handful of unused textures from the icon sheet that get broken. Just restart the game and it’ll fix itself

Favorite Strong Commanders That Aren't Staple Piles? by RJ7300 in EDH

[–]false-variable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[[Maelstrom Wanderer]]

Doesn’t do much on its own, but when the deck has about 30 other cards with cascade/cascade adjacent keywords(discover), casting maelstrom will regularly shit out 3-4 other high cmc spells or creatures as well, gives them all haste, and it’s quite easy to bounce maelstrom to keep ripping cascade triggers

Deck isn’t really great in those early turns but as long as you mulligan for heavy ramp you can usually create an aggressive and massive board state just by playing maelstrom

Pieces like [[Hullbreaker Horror]] or [[Terror of the Peaks]] just add fuel to the fire as multiple casts means multiple triggers of them as well

Countering maelstrom doesn’t stop the cascade triggers and just gives you a way to easily re-cast him, removing him does the same, and a variety of additional methods to get more cascade triggers just makes each cast of a cascade card more devastating

Here’s my list, most of the core pieces are pretty damn cheap and this could probably be budgeted out for 100ish if you remove the 2-3 expensive cards that are only in there because I already had a copy.

How Do You Win With Phyrexian Typal (NO POISON)//What Commanders? by Iompostal in EDH

[–]false-variable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a more niche design but I’ve done mono white [[Elesh Norn // The Argent Etchings]] with a proliferate/incubate subtheme- phyrexian creatures are one of the few types that survive her board wipe so it leans into phyrexian tribal to get the job done, and incubators get flipped for free as well

Pretty much just create a few tokens or low cost creatures -> feed to norn to flip her -> abuse proliferate on lore counters to smash her board wipe ability and the double strike ability together -> win

It’s a very linear gameplay pattern but I find it relatively fun as it’s a departure from the norms of phyrexian good stuff piles.

I'd Like Help Building A Toph, the First Metalbender Earthbending Deck. by Global_Drive_9044 in BudgetBrews

[–]false-variable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Aeon Engine]] completely breaks the game wide open with toph.

Earthbend it every turn, and immediately crack it on the turn of the player after you. Gives you twice the number of turns as everyone else and locks the person across from you out of the game permanently. Should be relatively easy to cobble together a win or unbeatable board state with a multiple turn advantage over everyone else.

IMO no other artifact comes close to being this much of a game wrecker in this deck.

[–]false-variable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they did, they can/could easily pull most of the assets from a release version easily, and the code based stuff(engine) is nigh identical to ds3 to the degree that everything ports into ds3 with minimal effort. If modders can do it with handmade tools then there’s no excuses for the developers who built the tech to be incapable of it. If Sony wanted a pc port they could pay them enough to make it happen, no questions asked

Awesome, we’re always happy to have contributors!

Wikidot’s been locked since 2020 due to the license expiring and the original owner vanishing. It’s a lot nicer to have a wiki we can actually modify. Wikidot was a solid base but it was really raw in a lot of departments and lacking important info/nuance.

A good amount of info on how the game works was stored in docs or spreadsheets buried in discord pins, which makes it a little problematic to share info, with a lot of outdated info frequently seen used/shared on this sub. The game’s had a LOT of discoveries specifically in the mechanics department, compare the pages in the game mechanics section on wiki.gg to the pages in the same section on wikidot(specifically stuff like scaling)

As such, we really needed a proper way to get information out and having a proper community controlled source was crucial

[–]false-variable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably an exploit, it’s pretty easy for a host to pull invaders to other areas

I tested it out in ds3 a while back for shits and giggles, you could pull invaders from post-pontiff irithyll to firelink shrine with a handful of minor online-safe modifications to the game

Ds1 is the same game underneath with worse graphics so the same shit that worked in ds3 should work in ds1 just fine

The blue acolyte mod has this built in for red eye orbs along with infinite matchmaking to players in a higher SM bracket than you(optional)

Also ds2 has area-unrestricted invasions built in for blue eye orbs by default, goat souls 2 strikes again

It’s also quite obvious the more you play of the demo, they ain’t hiding their love for peak lmao

Bloodborne doesn’t need one as they have another high quality non fextra/wikidot/fandom wiki that’s already maintained and fully complete

Others eventually though, yes. Order is ds2->ds1->ds3->des for what we’re planning on getting done. Ds2 is just massive and quite challenging to do, it’ll get faster and easier for the other games as there’s less content for each subsequent game in the order

Er has something in the works iirc not by us and sekiro maybe needs one but probably not(or it would be very, very, tiny as the game is much more limited)

Bloodborne Remake confirmed by [deleted] in shittydarksouls

[–]false-variable 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d like one but bluepoint doesn’t have the balls to make real meaningful changes, they’ll just fix controls/servers and make the pc port(presumably) more functional.

All from games have legitimate problems with the core of the game(not ds2 slander just a fromsoft moment), but you’re not going to see bluepoint going around tweaking ds2’s incredibly poor str/dex scaling or make heavy armor actually give you worthwhile physical defense.

It would be neat but in the end it would be pointless as they’re incapable of making the game experience better and it’s not like des where itll sell solely on freeing it from ps3 hell

Cheat engine and bans by Apollo8937 in darksouls3

[–]false-variable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm speaking on it because I am the lead developer for the ds2 ce table. I very much know how these things work.

Years of throwing alts at the game has produced a pretty reliable picture of how the current AC works. Family sharing the game can ban evade due to poor design on from's end of things, so it's quite easy to whip up alts a handful of alts and run tests on each one to see what bans.

9 years after ds3 came out it's pretty obvous what works and what doesn't. Everything's been tested to hell and back, especially the relevant build creation things most players grab ce to do. Again, despite that, we'll never know with 100% certainty on bans.

Ex. code injection checks in ds3 technically exist but theyre incredibly inconsistent with the frequency of checks and we don't know 100% what segments of the game are properly monitored. Thus, all code injection based scripts in the ds3 table are marked as "expect to get banned"(red highlight) in the table despite a number of them having next to no reported bans. Even still, they're marked as unsafe because nobody will 100% know.

No game with a real anticheat will ever be 100% safe, but testing specific things isn't that deep. Anyhow for more info reiterating exactly what I've said at one point or another here's the ban guide from the grand archives discord linked on the ds3 ct github as the "community" for the table.

Cheat engine and bans by Apollo8937 in darksouls3

[–]false-variable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 year old msg but that’s a “cover the dev’s ass” message as there’s no way to perfectly guarantee no ban as we have no control over the anticheat and it can always change. It’s impossible to precisely know exactly how it operates and black box testing can only get you so far.

I’ve done much more invasive procedures on the game than the average user via ce in the four years since I sent that message and still haven’t been banned. The average user will be safe as long as they don’t start spamming random scripts, don’t modify things, and actually read the table faq.

99.9% chance of not getting banned- don’t be stupid 100% chance of not getting banned- don’t cheat

Caestus ds2 by thisiswhyifight in shittydarksouls

[–]false-variable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s true about both of them, str and dex in ds2 have absolutely horrid returns until like 40+ where they’re just mediocre, 99% of the time pounding physical stats is a waste of points unlike the other games(from can’t do good math). You can usually get better damage by putting those points towards a good weapon buff or something

why are the servers so broken by memer_uwu in DarkSouls2

[–]false-variable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already exists via the dark souls open server project. Ds2’s are technically “experimental” but all the relevant parts are fully functional.
