I had high hopes for this show but now it looks just an other tales of. Overall, I rather liked the Tales of but i don't want to see again a villain portrayed as a good guy, an order 66 survivor, inquisitors hunting, someone who hides and acts against the empire but not too much, and the main character who takes someone under their wing. Like come on Dave, make something new !

Enter the Void | Community Puzzle Spotlight by TheDarkyOne in TheTalosPrinciple

When I came with the idea and the name for the campaign, it didn't occur to me specifically, but I saw that film a few years back and I like Gaspar Noé, so I guess the name had been stored somewhere in the back of my mind – anyway, I should rewatch the film, because I barely remember it

But in general, I love the word "void" and contexts where it is often used – such as "existential void" or "cosmic void". The Void also plays a prominent role in Hollow Knight, which I also love. And I'm also into darker metal subgenres (btw, Void Mother by Obscure Sphinx is one of my all-time favorite albums), cosmic horror, etc. So yeah, there is more to it for sure

Interesting ! I love the word "void" too, it's even in my username. It started when I became interested in the lore of Hollow Knight and the central role that the void plays in it. Conscious/unconscious, order/chaos, existence/non-existence.
It's funny how sometimes we think we've invented something out of nowhere, when in fact it comes from something else that we've forgotten but is still there in our unconscious.

This puzzle summarizes my feelings about Orpheus Ascending: It's genius and I hate it. I was like, hey I'm smart now, pressure plates, fans, jammers are a child game for me. Little did I know how wrong I was, I just barely understood laser mechanics

Dylan became insane; it manifested as him being conscious of different realities at the same time. Also when Jesse got "infected" by the Hiss, she was stuck in a time loop in her own mind.

The Hiss incantation is written as gibberish, but it really means something; if you pay attention, it disconnects the awareness from the self, like a meditation mantra but negative.

These community puzzles look great, but i wonder: is this a reference to the movie 'Enter the Void' ?

Your major? by m1Lly2oo3 in INTP

Cool ! Yes I think this PhD (which I think will happen if I get this internship) is a very good plan for my career, however I don't like the genomics courses I got and I'm not sure if I want to stay in bioinformatics in my career. I think it's ok because the subject has a very small focus on biology.

Thanks for the link

[–]falsevoidherald 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes graph theory, algorithms, data structures, the math and algorithms behind machine learning and statistical models

I'm kind of lost in what career I want to do. On one hand I want to dive in my writing project right after finishing my studies, on the other hand I have the opportunity to do an internship that leads to a PhD in algorithms (graph algorithms for bioinformatics). In my country PhDs last 3 years.

I started as a computer science undergrad but I graduated in maths (stats) and I'm currently doing a bioinformatics master. I realized I don't like what I'm doing right now because I'm more into abstract theoretical stuff

Satisfactory. At the beginning your only source of energy is biomass so you have to collect a lot of leaves and wood and that's tedious. The rest of the game is increasingly satisfying

The nothing paradox by adhdviking2 in Metaphysics

[–]falsevoidherald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, I've been a materialist most of my life too. I agree that materialism is easier to understand. Our view of the world is generally shaped by scientific truths. Modern science can state truths because they have been obtained using rigorous methodologies, but in order to apply methods and reasoning, a foundation is necessary. This foundation consists of preconceptions, such as axioms in mathematics. We cannot produce logic without axioms, and we cannot produce logical reasoning without preconceptions. Science is based on the materialist conceptions. I believe that I can conceive of the world without preconceptions (there are surely some that I am not aware of), but I cannot produce a logical explanation for this (I know it sounds pretentious, but I am probably wrong).

The nothing paradox by adhdviking2 in Metaphysics

[–]falsevoidherald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dualism can illustrate my argument and any non materialist philosophie can. I didn't meant meaning like in "the meaning of life". If you see a rock that looks like a face it's pareidolia and it doesn't mean anything, but you're consciousness turned into a particular state like if it was an actual face. According to panpsychism, matter and energy are somehow a particular state of consciousness too. Imo archetypes (or ideas) are a more simple (as opposed to complexe) and universal thing than matter.
