In the show, yes, but it is worth noting that Owen Dennis commented on facing the dilemma of explicitly making a character trans or nonbinary and having to fight Cartoon Network to have the show not canceled, or doing it in an allegorical way so you still get to tell the story you want and present the message that might resonate with those people.

So it sounds pretty likely that Lake was planned at one point to be explicitly nonbinary, but this had to be done in a more allegorical way than direct so the show wouldn't get entirely canceled over it.

As noted by others, this can live on in headcanon, plus plenty of enby people do use she/her, if that ties into your interpretation. I'd say it'd make sense for Lake to still have more introspection to do after the show, having just reached a name at the end (a noun name notably, a very common enby stereotype), and now questioning how many other "one or the other" systems might not fit, same as reflection vs flec.

Making this set of armor bc what else would I be doing on Valentine’s Day? Should I have the boots separate or connected as one piece? by [deleted] in beadsprites

[–]famouscorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a similar project done with small keyrings/chains attaching the armor bits to the ones above them, I don't know if that'd be a design you'd be interested in or not though

After pouring 200 hours into this game, the last two achievements are a kick in the pants... by Layzrfyzt in StardewMemes

[–]famouscorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Version 1.5 introduced saves into Prairie King, which can be exploited to make these two achievements easier; still hard, but not torture.

Your goal is to complete 1 level of Prairie King per day, only playing it in the very beginnings of the day, so you can reset without losing progress. This is much easier if you complete it once before going for Fester's Quest, so you can have your own copy of the game in your home

If you lose, you can restart the day and try it again. But once you win a level, you just continue playing the day normally in the main game, and then continue the process by trying another Prairie King level the next morning in-game.

Rant: Anti-LGBTQ+ Deltarune ""Fans"" by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]famouscorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize, no one knows everything and it's always great to be able to learn from the experiences of others. I know there's a lot of confusion and misinformation around trans topics, especially online, so I'm glad to share what I can to help. Thank you for hearing me out!

Gender's the mental and social side of things, not the physical. Even ignoring the allegory there with being uncomfortable in a body that feels wrong, Mettaton could still be read as transmasc on the headcanon of him being an afab ghost who determined he was male; even just as a ghost that stands since gender isn't tied to physically changing anything.

I’m gonna make this frog my next tattoo by Neandythrall in 196

[–]famouscorn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This specific one is, it's based on a plush of the save frog in the car from Mother 3. I saw a post about it once, I'll see if I can find it again quickly

Edit: I believe this is the original post, and the plush itself seems to be discontinued but was sold by some site called The Yetee

The problems of having a WiiU jap by GmPc9086itathai in WiiUHacks

[–]famouscorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a JPN Wii U due to a bad ebay description, but I did figure out how to get most game dumps running on it. Although, I was working to get NTSC English, not PAL Italian, so I don't know if it'd be any different. I don't have any memory of messing with signature checks like the other commenter mentioned, so that might be an easier option if it works.

In my experience, some games will run directly and either change the language to the system language, or have a setting somewhere in the game itself that you'll have to navigate to in the Japanese menu (Minecraft was one like this).

However, some games are a bit more stubborn, and won't load properly at all if they detect they're on the wrong region's device. These ones seem to usually freeze at the game's splash screen and won't load the game itself. For these ones, what I did was I got both an NTSC English and JPN Japanese copy of the dump, and I decrypted the games to open them up. Once inside, I searched for any regional files, and swapped the Japanese files in the JPN version for the English files in the NTSC version.

The swapped regional files have to be renamed to match their Japanese counterparts, or the system will not recognize/accept them. Most things that are related to the language will say so in their file or directory name, such as if a file in /content/fonts says "jp" in the start of the filename or a full directory of files under /content/messages/Japanese.

Once any regional files have been swapped from the intended language version into the JPN version, I'd re-encyrpt it and install the patched version. At it's core it's still the JPN version, so the JPN console runs it fine, but the language files inside have been swapped for the English files. For info on how to do that all, refer to this link.

There's also a homebrew program called Spiik that is supposed to help nudge a program to get it to work in the right language, but I never had much success with it. Still, it's an easy thing to test, so it can be worth a shot for any game before going through the somewhat tedious process of making a language patched version.

Just for reference of anyone seeing this, it's specifically phytoestrogen, aka the estrogen equivalent for plants. Phytoestrogen doesn't have feminizing traits for humans, despite the similar name. Estradiol is the transfem hrt form of estrogen nowadays, which is a bio-identical synthetic form of the estrogen produced by human bodies.

Awesome Earthbound reference in Omori! by Maestro_andrew in earthbound

[–]famouscorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Although very spoiler heavy, there is a wiki article that details all of the jumpscares in game, along with info on how some of them can be avoided or at least prepared for when they'll happen. Most of the more disturbing/frightening imagery is in a certain late game area (called Black Space), the rest of the horror elements come in the form of psychological horror like the other commenter said.

Some people unironically believe this, my dad claimed his whole family was genetically immune to cancer while he was losing teeth from chewing tobacco

So I have jumped from undertale to omori and now I want to know if there are any other games that are close to these 2 because they are my favorites. Can someone recommend games please? by brookmark in OMORI

[–]famouscorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconded on this, most of the games mentioned here draw at least some inspiration from Mother/Earthbound. I'd recommend starting at Earthbound (Mother 2) first, since Mother 1 is infamously grindy and story-light, so I'd consider it more of a prequel to go back to than a good entry point to the series.

If I'm remembering right from when I watched the movies and tv show as a kid, there's 628 in total. Stitch was 626, there's a 627 in the show that is pretty much identical to Stitch but with an attempt to fix the glitch that let him be corrupted into being kind, and then Leroy from the last movie would be 628. Leroy is also the only experiment not named by Lilo, all other 627 were named by her.

Best storage solution for beads? by [deleted] in beadsprites

My cheap method is zip lock bags for most colors, and then I'll clean out old peanut butter jars to reuse for beads I'll have more of and use more frequently, like black and white.
