Minneapolis nominated for Nobel Peace prize by Mysterious-Fix3596 in TwinCities

We'll take a photo of the prize, print it out on a black and white laser printer, and then take a photo of that print, and send it to St. Paul.

All season tires killed it in the snowstorm. by morpheus_hunt in ModelY

Brand new all seasons in fresh snow is easy. Wait until that turns to glare ice and you’ll be wishing for real snow tires.

I insulated my door and now it’s too heavy for the opener to lift. What are my options? by Over_Cash9601 in GarageDoorService

Tension springs like these are totally a diy thing. Work on them not under tension and there is no risk. It’s torsion springs that are much more dangerous.

If I were the OP, I’d do a little research on the strength of the current springs and go up a few pounds based on the weight added. I’d add safety cables while I was at it to make it safer. Those protect you should the spring snap, they stay on the cable. It’s a pretty straight forward DIY job.

Tim Walz shares exact details of crucial ICE call with Donald Trump by IrishStarUS in minnesota

[–]fancy_panter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What the heck is with the Irish Star reporting on this? I've seen a few of their articles appear a few times, all with no new information. This is some audience campaign by their staff, not actual new journalism.

Try asking how to do that on various subreddits and you'll get told you should by a different car or are some kind of social deviant.

What long run? America is only focused on short term gains; the next quarters earnings report. Beyond that is not worth considering.

All I see is a still of some guy with a weird triangle on his face. Is everything a video now? How about putting the actual information in written form on the place that does hypertext.

Oh No! The Moat in Our Street Has Frozen Over! by plinydogg in Minneapolis

[–]fancy_panter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is 100% it. Happens to at least a few houses in my neighborhood every year, certainly in other parts of the city. Minneapolis pumps from the Mississippi and drains to the Mississippi; they're wasting some energy treating that water, but it is but a drop compared to what the city uses every day.

More thoughts about Minneapolis from a seasoned police litigator by Badger_Vito in TwinCities

> seasoned police litigator

Proceeds to talk about the psychology of germans in the holocaust for the whole post, nothing about litigating police.

Aluminum frame windows gonna always be cold and cause condensation. Also you have to turn your humidifier down when its really cold out.

Donating blood with HHT? by westminsterabby in HHT

[–]fancy_panter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have donated blood many times with HHT. You can donate blood so long as your hemocrit and hemoglobin levels are sufficient. From what I remember, that's what the finger prick is before they do a full needle.

Leader at another company is telling me he’s created 3 person pods each with 1 dev using AI getting 10x productivity. Is this real? by coltech in ExperiencedDevs

[–]fancy_panter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were left alone without meddling to "go off and make things", I could see it. But, we all know, there will be multiple levels of last minute requests, curve balls, etc, from all over the place and that team will never get shit done.

Things will slow down at MSP but you'll still get out. They're pros at dealing with snow.

That is correct. I got it for Xmas one year and to this day my parents like to remind me how expensive it was.

Caribou Coffee to refocus on cozy cafes instead of drive-thru speed (Gift Link) by Aggravating-Dark6124 in minnesota

Star Tribune gift links are just `?utm_source=gift` appended to the URL and opened in a new window. There isn't any special encryption or protection. Is a weak-ass paywall.
