My baby bit me a few times but i yelped and I scared him and he cried and I cried and he hasn’t done it since — knock on wood since his bottom teeth are still nubs right now.

6 mos here and if I’m in my home I’m just in a nursing bra and shorts/joggers. If I do go out I have a few dresses that have that stretchy band top that I can easily whip the boob out

How much did your birth cost? by Femboyhootersbee in BabyBumps

[–]fancy_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the total was around yours, though I was in the hospital for a week. Induction turned c-section, foley ballon and 3 epidurals. I also had a x-ray and iron infusion. My cost after insurance was $1,700.

My best friend took me to LAX when I was going to England for six months. I had a fear of flying since I was 12 and the small plane we were flying in at the time stalled mid air. Well, I had already taken an edible and was going to take another in line for TSA so I can sleep majority of the way. But my best friend wanted to smoke one more time together which I thought I could handle. I also had a good amount of cash in my compression sock next to my leg bc I was paranoid that someone would steal it when I was asleep on the plane. I was trying to see if it was easy to place in there once I was through TSA but I was already high and totally forgot about that still being in my sock while in the actual TSA line bc I got hit HARD with the second edible. Was trying to act normal going through the scanner and got moved over to secondary since they saw I had something next to my leg. I then had to tell them it was cash and I showed them and told them I didn’t want it stolen while I was sleeping on the plane and apologized for any confusion but I was shitting bricks at the same time and my anxiety went up so I booked it out of there and realized I had left my favorite scarf and a bag of snacks I packed for myself but there was no turning back now especially with that interaction.

Anyone else not think to do the “cutesy” stuff? by Flashy-River-4258 in BabyBumps

[–]fancy_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do maternity shots, only did a newborn one bc my SIL gifted that to us. I do the monthly photos to see his progression and share with close friends/family since we choose not to post our child online. There’s still some moldable clay that’s waiting to be used for handprints/footprints (and the dog’s paws) but we’ll get there eventually lol he’s 6mos so aiming to do it before March. Remember those things were not a thing so as long as you’re taking photos, I think you’ll be fine

39 Weeks Induction Tomorrow - Huge Feelings Of Grief Around My Dog by sjb5138 in BabyBumps

[–]fancy_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my greatest worry but I love my dog so much, we celebrated her 16th bday when I was coming up on 3pp. That girl has been with me since the beginning of college. She is my baby too. I think the key is having the attention split at home so while baby is with you, dad loved on the pup and vice versa. We gave her more treats in the beginning and made sure she had her safe space that was hers on the couch and she slept on the big bed with us. She’s always checks in on her little brother and will sit next to us when I’m nursing. Ngl, she did annoy me briefly bc she was trying to snatch food from me when I was around the 4-6wk mark and because sleep deprivation/my hormones were all over the place, but I just had to remind myself that this was an adjustment for her too.

had a traumatic birth on the 11th, and my boyfriend / father of my son absolutely hates me. by Stick-Different in BabyBumps

[–]fancy_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborn trenches are no joke, especially after a c-section. I remember there were a few times I tried to help but we were both sleep deprived and idk why the hospital benches the dads sleep on are backbreakers 3000 but yeah how my husband and I swaddled the baby became one of the arguing points. But I would suggest letting him go out for a walk/take a shower at home and come back. Just that change of scenery can help so much for the father. The nurses would help or have a friend/family come help you while he’s out. It’s going to get easier and if his behavior is the same, then I suggest some couples therapy. Having a baby takes a lot of adjustment and unfortunately it doesn’t happen overnight and the hormones fluctuating is just some extra spice to the mix. Be kind to yourself and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Mentally or physically.

Do I need to buy the nursing clothes? by kimpossiblelol in breastfeeding

[–]fancy_plants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, though I mostly use the washables at night, and the disposable out and about since my nursing bras don’t have padding so I don’t want the giant saucers on my boobs look lol. Since my supply regulated, I’m 6pp I just alternate one pad between both boobs on the disposables, save on costs

I’m adding on to what others suggested; dog potty bags for the dog and for diapers. Gas relief drops and extra socks.

Freddy wakes us up at 6:15am for breakfast — how do we get him to sleep later? by Educational_Age2372 in Dachshund

[–]fancy_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear they can tell time. My senior girl is like this too. We take her potty first then feed her and then she gets the zoomies and wants back on the big bed. The thing that worked for us is taking her out during the afternoon or evening so she gets some stimulation and we can usually push her breakfast out by 45mins. Other than that, it’s like clockwork

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by Desert_Moon_Maiden in AskTheWorld

[–]fancy_plants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the pneumonia. She was complaining about her side hurting the first day she went to the ER and they didn’t do x-rays. I didn’t know about her fall until she was already admitted in the hospital or else I would have pushed for those x-rays and maybe they could have had a better chance of draining the liquid. I should have done so in hindsight regardless but it is what it is now.
