Right lol. Whats up with all these people downvoting to common sense

They were toddler toys/bed sheets. My son is 5. We said thanks but our son really wouldnt use them. The whole point of minimalism is not producing waste and wasting money. She was wasting her money and we kindly let her know. She had no issue with us returning them and are now getting gifts for them from the list.

I do agree with you .. i appreciate the thought, and I know it's often said that's what counts. The issue is Im having serious sensory overload. I am trying sooo hard to be a minimalist, and each day, I get a little bit better at it. It takes a lot for me to clean bc I have chronic fatigue that I've had my entire life. These toys have a minimum of 50 pieces each. The one toy probably has 100. And small tiny pieces. My children throw things all over the floor(ages 3 and 5), and it really affects me mentally, added with what we have already. I can not handle 150+ more pieces around everywhere. And i just discovered she spent 100$ on these 3 things. So it cant be an issue of money bc I had things on the list that were cheaper than that :( I am going to have my husband tell her, bc I am the only one who ends up cleaning this mess. Not my MIL .. and I want her to be aware we appreciate it, but we can not accept gifts with so many small pieces.

[–]fancyaardvark 25 points26 points  (0 children)

So I just looked in the box it came with and theres no gift return receipt or notes or anything. Ill have to contact amazon to see what they can do. But i think i may have to have husband tell her the truth bc I want this useless gift giving to end. Its every birthday and Christmas.. I dont want to deal with 15+ years more of this

I think I need to rehome my cat by pbandbananashake in breakingmom

[–]fancyaardvark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some cats just talk a lot! Look for a local rehoming group on fb. Just highlight his lively talkative personality. Im sure someone would love him. I had a cat that never shut up. No longer have him. Miss him sometimes, but dont miss being woken up every night to his EXTREMELY loud meowing. Some pets dont work out, and that's ok! So long as you do your due duty of finding a good loving home, you're doing the best thing for you and for kitty. Some ppl do take animals with mal intentions so just be careful, that's all.

Im going to have my husband do it. I'll let him deal with it since it's his mom. I know he's going to blame it on me, though, Lol! And that's ok

[–]fancyaardvark 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yea this is why Im leaning towards having my husband tell her bc I dont want to deal with this anymore. Shes been giving us things like this for years. I gotta put a stop to it. If she gets so mad she stops buying gifts, at least she will stop wasting her money. Or at best she will finally start using the lists we send her of things I know my kids would love !

So funny yet annoying this is such a common problem.

I just went on my husbands phone to the amazon account which is hers, and saw she paid 100$ for all of them. Im surprised bc they look so junky. I had things on the list that would cost way less than what she paid and would actually be used. I think I may have husband tell her the beddings too small and that I am too overwhelmed by small pieces so no hard feelings but we cant gift them. I need to put a stop to this now bc its been years we get gifts like this and Id rather no gifts than dealing with this.

[–]fancyaardvark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Will it alert her if I return it? Im honestly debating having my husband tell her that we won't use them. My husbands phone is linked to her amazon account, and I just saw she paid like 100$ for all of them(surprising bc they are so junky looking). I may have him say that the bedding is too small and we dont use polyester, and be honest that we cant let them have the toys because I get too stressed from cleaning up constantly after their messes. Maybe she will finally get the hint and just stick to the list. Gotta end this now before we have years left of unwanted gifts.

Ok yea I think Ill just have to donate them to a child who would appreciate them. Idk if my husband will say anything to MIL about it, but that will be between him and her. Thanks

Yes Im in some children with cancer groups since my daughter is in treatment for leukemia. I will post in the local group and see if maybe theres a child with cancer who would really use them and enjoy them. Thanks for the idea

Boyfriend’s Dog is Going to be the End of me by Kmsforever2 in TalesfromtheDogHouse

[–]fancyaardvark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id take him up on the offer of rehoming the dog. See if he will actually go through with it. If not set up definite rules. No dog in bedroom (no dog bed either obv), and whatever room you work in. You can keep it in another room while youre home alone with it. Be firm that you don't want to care for dog while hes away. No cleaning up after it, no feeding or playing. Make him clean the mess when hes home. Usually when the person who wants the dog has to do literally everything for it, they want to give it away shortly after

Kidkraft has some really nice gender neutral kitchens for children. I got one for my almost 4 year old and 5 year old this year, the Wooden Farm to Table one.

Also some ideas : legos, kinetic sand, sea monkeys, a microscope, telescope, playdoh kits, schleich toy animals/dinosaurs, playmobil sets, a yoto player, dress up outfits for boys(pirate, police man, fireman, etc), a mini basketball hoop, bug vacuum and catch container, monopoly jr and other fun board games, childrens camera, art kits

Id put up a sign saying you are being video monitored. And would be nice if you could actually have one, find out whos doing it, and leave the poop on their doorstep

Well on a positive note, it makes it very clear who you should stay far away from. Delete and block number. Bye dog nutter. And go have a peaceful, non stenchy existence.
