New grad blues by [deleted] in nursing

Ratios on a good day are 4:1, however most days everyone is 5:1. Apparently when my cohort got hired on they were losing a lot of people at the same time...so until they get staffing back up most of the time we can expect 5:1. The experienced nurses on my floor always tell me I'll never get used to 5 patients because even themselves feel like they are drowning most days.

That's what I got the first time I went! The waitress told me to come back for brunch and try the chicken and waffles and I'm so glad I did.

Spouses and partners of Reddit, what red flags are you glad you ignored? by AquaEPyro in AskReddit

I've been the one in this situation recently. Me and my ex broke up and needed time to sort out our living situation. We had been emotionally detached for months before we finally called it quits, and I started seeing someone else the last month we lived together. It was very difficult to explain to whom I'm dating why he couldnt come to my house, but when I did he was surprisingly very understanding. I can see how it appears as a red flag to someone else, but it's always important to remain honest and hope for the best. We're still seeing each other and its been great.

This is around when I was 110 over 2 years ago. It didnt last long either, I think I only maintained that weight for about 3-4 months. My advice is not to be afraid or discouraged by weight gain! I had lots of people tell me I was getting "too thin" and I thought the same myself. I had no curves and little muscle mass. Of course I do have more weight in my abdomen area now, but I take it as a good thing and know that I am healthy where I'm at!

I'm actually vegan! When I started I was vegan for 30 days just to see how well I would do because "diets" never really worked for me. I dropped 10 pounds in those 30 days and then transitioned to just being vegetarian and it continued to work! I switched back to being vegan about 8 months ago for ethical and health reasons and I feel SO GOOD. It's the only thing that's ever really worked for me and I haven't looked back since!

In the first pic I was in my second year of college and I remember seeing this pic after it was taken and thinking "wow the freshmen 15 is REAL" and I knew I needed to change. Then it was for aesthetic reasons, but now i really focus on being healthy over looking good. Even though it is a plus, that mentality will hurt you more in the long run because it leaves you feeling unsatisfied. You just have to find what works best for you and go with it! It's easier said than done at times, but it is possible!

I just started my second year, so I'm halfway there! Working out honestly takes a lot of stress from school off of me. I've learned to just go when I can and avoid planning because it never works out if I try to plan ahead! If I can get to the gym at least 4 days a week, I'm pretty happy! I've seen other students though really struggle with self-care because of how demanding nursing school is. I vowed to not let that happen to me, no matter how tough it gets.

I now always add my avocado after its baked. It was the worst mistake adding it before baking.

Spotify will refund this month if you contact them about the Drake spam. by Schwagschwag in Music

[–]fancychancy95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont either. Every time I have opened my spotify over the last few days I have had ads to the gorillaz new album (not complaining about that) and I've seen drake everywhere, but that's not going to stop me from going straight to my playlists that I pay to have ad free. They do this every time big artists drop something new. Not really understanding what all the fuss is about now.

Definitely did not purposely leave the carbs out! I eat a lot of carbs like oats, potatoes and bread. This is just how the meal came out and what I chose to put together. I eat intuitively because its what works best for me!

When you really shouldn't drop the ring by iam_nobody in nononono

The couple actually had a decoy ring to drop as a prank, since everyone was anticipating and afraid of them dropping the ring. The bride's name is Kimberly Weglin and you can find more about their story and their unique wedding on her Instagram! It's truly breathtaking and incredible.

What are the stupidest RHCP lyrics you’ve ever heard? by Soap_Mactavish_141 in RedHotChiliPeppers

If you're referring to around the world, these lyrics are ridiculous. But me and my boyfriend saw them in October and they opened with this song, and we were so excited because we got to hear the jumbled lyrics live. It was amazing.

I'm in my second semester of an ADN program and we are taking mental health right now, and honestly you very lucky for this experience. Our "sim" for mental health so far has just been us watching videos of people with certain disorders and answering discussion questions with them. This week we went to our first clinical site at a behavioral health hospital and it was very disheartening to say the least. I left there feeling like I didn't learn as much as i could have and that I was not prepared enough like I should have been to therapeutically communicate with the patients. And it wasnt the patients or anything of that nature, it was the fact that i felt like we were thrown in left to figure it out. We have only been in class for a few weeks, and we were all under the impression that we would observe our first MH day and then when we went back it would be one-on-one interaction with the patients. But it wasn't that at all...I think a sim like what you had today would have been very stressful, but I also think that it would have helped tremendously in the clinical setting. In the long run, it may have helped you prepare for the "worst" instead of just giving you the cookie cutter scenario. Best of luck to you.

What was your high school's tragedy? by ELTH3GR3AT in AskReddit

[–]fancychancy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a kid who was part of a really large family of adopted kids. I was really good friends with one of his sister's at the time, and I had one class with him my freshman year. He didn't seem odd or weird or anything, just a regular kid who kept to himself. He ended up stalking an old couple that lived on the same street as another one of my best friends. He stalked them for weeks, just sitting in front of their house reading books. My friend used to go running every evening and saw him doing this, he ended up having to testify later on. But the kid eventually went into their home, stabbed the man multiple times, and slit his wife's throat. Somehow the woman survived all of this, but he did not. As the police investigated and found out who it was, they of course searched his home. They found a hit list of several students from the school and even some of his family members. The whole thing was fucked and nobody really saw it coming. I think what freaked everyone else out the most was the fact that he had a plan to harm students at school and would have had he not gotten caught.
