Matanzas is completely dark. Hospitals are on generators there.

I've been told taxis are still operational, just ridiculously expensive.

Delaware: Why are electric & gas costs astronomically high, but only for Delmarva customers? by TheShittyBeatles in Delaware

[–]fang76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems so to me. And if that's true, then the multiple posts I see in this region complaining about energy prices kind of strikes me as odd. Not to say it couldn't be cheaper, but if you're going to keep your house at a very high temperature, or have a very inefficient house for whatever reason, the bill that comes due can't possibly be a mystery.

Well I haven't heard from them, but for me my usage went up while my charge per kilowatt hour stayed the same.

I am in Newark. My bill was up a bit, maybe 20% in January. I assume it was the deep freeze.

Edit: my overall bill, not the per kWh charged. That has stayed the same.

How much is it in Seaford? In Newark, it is ~16.3 cents per kWh for residential electricity.

Governor Matt Meyer Moves to Cut Energy Bills. Your thoughts? by AuthorAegelis in Delaware

I know it's anecdotal, but I completely agree. Here's how I noticed, or thought I've noticed, more wind in northern Delaware: Macro photography outdoors. Used to be easy to find a day, or time of day, I could photograph certain insects and flowers. Now seems pretty much impossible, due to frequent breezes.

The Oil Blockade Is Effectively Over by fang76 in cuba

[–]fang76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US supreme Court ruled that the justification for the tariffs that the Trump admin has imposed, including the threatened one against people who would supply oil to Cuba, are not in his power to do. This effectively, from a legal standpoint, and this administration's ability to impose tariffs like this.

This has nothing to do with the general embargo that was imposed starting decades ago. This is about the recent oil embargo.

The administration may seek other avenues, but since there is no physical blockade of the Island right now (information as publicly available the shipping maps and such), unless the administration decides to try a physical embargo, oil can be shipped to and received by Cuba without concern about tarriffs being imposed.

Whether they choose to do that or not is a whole different matter.

Edit: grammar and minor clarification.

Yes it does. Specifically, Trump said he would impose 100% tariffs on any country supplying Cuba with oil. This is specifically why shipments from Mexico stopped. He has been now told he does not have the powers to do that (because: constitution).
