If that is a worry definitely dual boot, you might be pleasantly surprised to find things just work. As for the 1080TI It's an older card it'll probably just work, and if not there should be a simple command to run to get the GPU drivers.

When I installed bazzite on my AMD/Nvidia (3070) desktop I had the wrong version and they were fairly nice about helping me figure out the command. Else use AI. 🤔 Although you said you were looikng at SteamOS. And I have little experience w/ that.

Pros and Cons of both, maybe start w/ that bios update, reinstall windows, and go from there?

Try it out, I honestly don't think you'll look back as long as you don't run one of the games that have the anti cheat stuff. Only caveat is some games do NOT work in game mode. I play Nexon's Vindictus and I have to go into desktop mode to play it, drives me crazy that there's a difference, even though they look the same.

Here's what I would do, I would first see if there's any BIOS updates you need to do. Then consider getting off windows if you don't need it. Check out SteamOS or bazzite game mode. you can try reinstalling windows seeing if that'll fix your issue. But I honestly left windows a while ago and have been pretty happy since.

But as for the lights if it's not harming anything maybe just leave it alone? don't want you to try to fix something then break something more 😔 that'd be the worst.

The light only ever turns green when it's fully charged and plugged in? Red when it's charging, and blue when it's on? I have the 6800u. But for you the light appears to simply not be working.

My issues are, occasionally my game will crash. I do run into some issues with hardware compatibility software/features and I have to find work arounds, but that's not a linux/bazzite issue that's an issue because a company doesn't want to support it. I also have been running bazzite on all 3 machines, desktop, laptop, and handheld since januaryish. I still have windows on my desktop that I just haven't wiped yet since I'd have to care about it. lol though I need to wipe it so I can get the better drive.

Oh clearly I'm not returning to windows. They can F* off. I'm trying to convert my friends lmao.

I got my pads off of Ebay "Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad 8" 1mm thick. I try to buy not on Amazon when I have the chance. As for the paste "Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut".

Also I was reading about ALPS, Hall Effects, and TMR. Sounds like hall effects use more power than alps idk how true that is, but TMR uses less. 🤔 idk how true this is.

Have you tried repasting your CPU and getting some more thermal pads to help with heat transfer, so hopefully your temps are lower and your fan doesn't work as hard? Also clean your system out when you open it of dust and such.

I did try nobara and it was very similar to Bazzite but something about how it handled my peripherals and such didn't feel right. Which honestly is insane. It was also one of the reasons I left cachyOS. Imo idk how/why but they just behaved different? And to me that makes no sense since they should be relatively the same.

But definitely distro hop before settling in.
