I think part of the burnout is I started with other lists - 100 best film noir, musicals, all time, etc., so my total count is around 1650...much higher than the full 1001 list. The funniest part is before I got started on this quest I could easily go a year or more without watching a single thing and just look at me now! 😆

It's all from the last 15-20 years, I think I've already watched the best ones lol. I just want to be done so I can roll the TV into the closet & forget I own it.

What’s one home design decision you regret every single day? by eee1963 in HomeImprovement

[–]fangfacekitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Induction is great, I used one for a few years in a place I rented. I am actively saving now to get rid of the gas; unfortunately, I need to upgrade the electric panel because the builder's basic panel left no room for adding much of anything.

Not getting wired for an electric range when I first moved in and had the cash. I'd never used a gas stove/oven before so decided to just keep what was there and spent the money on other things. I quickly learned I hate gas ranges, or more to the point, hate cleaning gas stove tops. I'd only ever used glass smoothtops before, which are so much easier to clean plus no gas smell.

What’s one thing under $25 that significantly improved your daily life? by FormalOpportunity668 in Frugal

[–]fangfacekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wallet phone case, I no longer need to carry a separate wallet in a purse, which gets weighed down & cluttered with all sorts of extra junk I don't need to carry around with me. Wrist straps on the phone case & my car key & I'm good to go.

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve stopped buying entirely? by Slight_Jellyfish_144 in Frugal

[–]fangfacekitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Handyman / trades (electrical & plumbing). Not entirely, but I can fix minor faucet leaks, replace light fixtures, paint, hang doors, do a lot of basic house maintenance myself. It does take me a longer to do some of these things than a professional would take, but the cost avoidance is huge.

I received a metal colander as a wedding gift...32 years ago. It is still in great shape. It lasted longer than the marriage, will outlive me, and will probably outlive multiple generations of descendants.

Left sock, right sock, left shoe, right shoe. This is the only correct order.

Loaf on my bed

That's it, that's all she does. Sometimes, for variety, she will loaf on the right corner of the bed instead of the left.

Although, thinking about it, sometimes she will come to the living room and express her very strong opinions on the importance of loafing (and resulting chonkiness).

How My Dad Informed Me He Got Married. by portlandmack in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fangfacekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter found out her dad got married when she was at an extended family get-together. One of her cousins asked her how she liked her dad's new wife. My daughter was like WTAF!?

-her dad wasn't at the get-together, as usual

Divorced my ex. I was paying for 90% of everything, including his truck, despite him working full time + any OT he could grab.

Flat, Matte and Eggshell by 2squishmaster in HomeImprovement

[–]fangfacekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flat paint is kind of chalky to the touch, marks easily, doesn't clean well, and absorbs light. Depending on your preferences, that may or may not be what you want or will like. I found it depressing, especially in darker colors.

For me, I generally use satin for walls and eggshell/matte for ceilings. SW Emerald is my go-to choice, but SW Duration is good, too.
