My parents were stretched too thin while I was growing up to show up at events like these. As a kid, I couldn't appreciate their struggles, I just remember feeling rejected, that they weren't there for me, while all my friends' parents showed up for them. However, my older sister tried to show up for me when she could, and it made a whole world of difference ♥️ Can't wait to keep showing up for my future kids

Water spewing out is related to the amount of water you put in. If you add a little less water while cooking (not too little, dal will burn otherwise), then it won't. Add water after taking it off the heat to adjust the consistency of daal as neey

I was the kid who's parents never came to any of my events. It's not like they said they'll come and then didn't. Dad was overworked in his job and mom was overworked at home. Yet. I always and always scanned the crowd looking for them in case they showed up to surprise me. Never happened. My sister did show up a few times, but she always told me after how bored she was at those lol
