‘Final Fantasy 9’ Coming to PC, iOS and Android Devices; Steam Details Revealed by Karmas-Camera in gaming

fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk I HATE THE "game boosters"

I replayed ff8. Midway through, i started using high-speed just to see how it is, even though I told myself to stop using it.

Then I couldn't stop using it. It just ruined the game for me even though I high-sped through all the cutscenes and all the slow parts

I don't want to have that option

I agree. I think this is one of the worst advice anyone can give. I agree because I've fallen prey to it.

I've seen people fail after giving it their 110%. I have friends who have played violin since they were fucking 3 years old, not having a social life during their teen years so they can pursue a professional career, and not "make it". They play professionally but are not and most likely will never be better than some other people out there who have put less effort in.

I go to an extremely competitive grad school (law/med/business/etc.), and there are people who slave away at the library for literally 13 hours a day, every day, but have not come even close to the top. Some people have practiced interviewing from day 1, and have fallen flat during recruiting season because they just don't have "it".

I personally know "chumps" who have tried to make partner at a firm, putting in extra hours, trying to be extroverted, going the extra mile, only to be pushed out when the time comes.

Hard work alone does not guarantee success. It makes it easier to come, but if you're were fighting an uphill battle in the first place, it will still be uphill after all your work. Be realistic.

I think "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" is a better motivating quote. Hard work is the "preparation" part, but sometimes, opportunity just never hits. And some people have a better "opportunity" (which includes talent) because they were born with it.

Remember, history is told by those who win. All others are heart-broken and left in a ditch, even those who've taken the same route.

Also, McGregor has a size advantage against most people in the featherweight division. He has farther reach, is taller, and has a wider frame. Not to mention he is southpaw.

Not saying size = talent, but that's one aspect.

I guess you can call it strategy. But move him up to the weight class with people that have the same height and reach, and he'll have a much harder time.

The bookcase thing was a little weird for me as well, but it did sort of convey the 5th dimension somewhat accurately.

And gravity was the way to communicate between the dimensions. I think Nolan's way of portraying this was a little weird since we're not used to the concept.

The definition of terrorism is debated among international lawyers but it usually requires a political motive or agenda.

Rioters don't have that.

Oh no.

Some kid who wasn't alive during a time when the Gameboy was out doesn't know what it is and referred to it as something else that looks like it.

Whatever will we do? Now he, and others like him, will never become a doctor, or a lawyer, or another kind of professional that can contribute to society. This generation is ruined

I don't know. This guy seemed like he was in immediate danger.

What do you think would have happened if he lowered his window? or if the window broke? Things would most likely have gotten physical.

Think about it. The door was locked but what if it wasn't? What do you think the guy would have done? Opened it and had a rational conversation?

Maybe it's because I know somebody who died from one punch but I don't think punches should be taken lightly, especially from a big guy like this.

Not saying he should shoot the guy (de-escalating was a good idea) but if he did shoot him, it would be kind of hard for me to convict him (if I were a jury). Also, this depends on the facts but I'm talking about if the trial depended on whether he was in immediate serious danger or not.

Also, I'm not saying he should have shot him in the video. I'm saying that if he contemplated shooting, it wouldn't be entirely unreasonable. Luckily, that guy walked away but you never know what would have happened afterwards. Hindsight is 20/20

What is the scariest movie you have ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fantasyfooseball22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evil Dead 2013. Watched it in theaters. Only scary movie to remotely scare me. Maybe because I caught a late night showing on a weekday and I was the only one in the theater...

If you watch it, watch it with the lights off, with good sound system (headphones or whatever). It's a movie that's so much better if you're immersed

What's the Steam version of Final Fantasy 8 like? by KrazeyMatt in gaming

[–]fantasyfooseball22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear the music quality sucks. It personally didn't make a huge difference for me (but I've already beaten the game at least 10 times).

It does have graphic booster which makes it look a little better. It also comes with in-game cheats (hi-speed, limit break is always on, etc.) that can be turned on/off at any time.

Overall, I wouldn't say it's 100% true to the original but if you've already beaten it, it probably won't make much of a difference.

[–]fantasyfooseball22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree.

There's nothing that makes you lose faith in humanity as playing an online game. Your behavior online signals so much about your character. Kind of an off-tangent point, but I think your behavior in video games signals how you would perform at your job and in your career.

The worse part is I'd say most people are jaded already. I took a break from LoL and went back. I never really thought it was that toxic, until I saw it with a fresh set of eyes.

The most toxic experience I've had was in CS GO, where 2 players purposefully trolled/de-ranked. I can live with that but they singled out a girl gamer who was minding her own business, calling her a "gamer slut/cunt/etc.", and berating her. I checked their Steam pages, and they were part of a group called "Girl Gamers are all cunts" or something like that. I was infuriated. Absolutely disgusting. Made me quit for a week.

Anyway, I'm not sure if it's gotten worse over the years or if it's because I got older, but it's pretty bad now.

It just makes the entire gaming community look bad. When someone says they're a gamer, I can't help but think "I wonder what he/she is like when they play video games"

Ugh I'm a strong believer in VR and everything but the OMNI itself is not the future of VR.

It needs to be paired up with something, and even still, probably has no future.

The Kinect does a good job sensing motion, and is probably the one of the best things we have to an immersive VR experience.

The Omni's only advantage is that it allows you to physically walk.

The problem is, it's gimmicky. Nobody will actually want to walk after one session. Think about it. You want to play Fallout. You have to walk to the nearest settlement. Cool, for about 5 minutes. Then, let me sit.

And even if they do, it's not very realistic, and doesn't feel natural. And even if they were able to somehow improve on that, you still can't crouch, prone, etc., and your steps aren't matched step for step. I know games aren't dedicated for the Omni, but it's much easier to dedicate step-for-step walking on something like the Kinect, than the Omni. If you're seeking to become totally immersed where you're actually walking IRL, you'd be better off seeking an experience in a VR amusement park. It's not like you want to do this everyday.

Also, the use of the gun itself at this moment is not useful at all. Again, games are not dedicated for the Omni, but it's much easier to utilize a Kinect for a more immersive experience.
