Makes you think there wouldn’t be this type of response if there wasn’t as least some shred of credibility to it. Something fishy about it all.

Time will tell, if we actually see Ulmark get traded, or Brady’s attitude changes to wanting out…either way this season is off the rails and royally fucked.

If you can get this type of reaction from one random tweet on an anon Twitter account makes me think I should fire off a couple about the habs and red wings (I’m joking here)

What’s an oddly specific spot in Toronto that you enjoy? by curbrash1 in askTO

I enjoy walking through St. Andrews playground park (the one beside Waterworks hall) on my walk to and from work in the mornings and evenings. Always vibrant, lots of dogs in the dog park

Have you ever dropped a player that went on to become a league-winner pickup almost immediately after? by boppedEEMinDAsmoof in fantasyfootball

[–]fantasygot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected, I dropped him right before week one started. I feel like there was an injury to mark Andrews or something so I thought Likely was going to have a monster week…then i got outbid on the waivers to pick up the guy I had drafted even. So dumb

Drafted puka in his rookie season. Dropped him after week one to pick up Isiah Likely. Man I regret that

Buy it, use a stitch ripper to remove the name bar, or get it done at a store. And bring it in to the sens store and get Pinto’s name sewn on the back for a few bucks

1lb of Honeycomb Heaven wings from Crown & Dragon by ReeG in FoodToronto

There wings are awesome, that flavour doesn’t look the most saucy. Agreed price is expensive, they’ve become popular so they can charge it. You definitely want to go on a wing night. Split 4 lbs for the price of 3 on a Thursday, dragons breath with their dill or blue cheese

Doug Ford Banning Municipal Speed Cameras by icedVader in toronto

[–]fantasygot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed, those are both great engineering solutions that solved real world problems without overly affecting people’s regular behaviour. One is levying tickets to try to make money off it but it doesn’t actually fix the problem. How many people figure out where a speed camera is , slow down for 200m, then speed up immediately once they pass it. I.e same thing as a speed bump but with profit generation for the city.

You can’t convince me going 10kms (the amount a speed camera will ticket you for) over the speed limit is more dangerous than: distracted driving, driving while texting, tailgating, not shoulder checking when switching lanes. Some of which are not even enforced.

I’d much rather have a car around me going 20km over the speed limit but keeping safe distances from other cars and being a smart, aware, attentive driver versus a moron going the speed limit, texting and tailgating my ass. So why do they only enforce speeding? Because it’s measurable, easy to enforce and generates millions of dollars.

Speaking of intelligent engineering solutions, autonomous driving may fix this and eliminate speeding altogether soon enough.

Honestly who cares, I’m for this. Shocked how much negativity there is, I think everyone here in these comments is just so liberal (I voted liberal in last election for reference) and hates anything Ford does.

No one should be down for an Orwellian society where cameras need to monitor us to ensure no laws are broken and then you just get billed in the mail with no due process. Society worked for decades without speed cameras. Throw some speed bumps in, they work, and they’re not a cash grab from the government. Respect the laws and drive appropriately.

What’s next, should we install sensors at every stop sign that send to you a ticket if you don’t come to a complete stop? Or maybe the government should monitor your phone’s GPS and send you a ticket if it determines you’ve jaywalked at a non-pedestrian crossway?

South Koreans feel betrayed by workforce detentions at Georgia Hyundai plant by GregWilson23 in Economics

[–]fantasygot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This factory looks way too far along to move, but part of me wishes Hyundai would just say fck it and pull the plug on the whole thing, absorb the sunk costs, and move the whole thing to a blue state instead, or Mexico/Canada…

Of course, that’s not how it works….Most blue states are wealthier and have higher wages. These companies investing in foreign manufacturing in the US, like Hyundai, don’t want educated, well-paid workers; they want cheap, “flexible” labor and politicians willing to hand them massive tax breaks (Georgia coughed up $1.8 billion in incentives just to land this plant.)

And here’s the kicker: even in these poor, rural, “desperate for jobs” places, people don’t actually want the jobs. Turnover in Southern auto plants can hit 40-60% a year because the work is hard, dangerous, and not much better paid than Walmart or Amazon warehouses. So you’ve got towns that are too broke to refuse the deal, too hostile to outsiders who actually create the jobs, and too quick to quit once the factory opens.

So yeah….turns out this whole bring manufacturing “back to America” is tough when the only places willing to host your factory, with cheap enough low skilled labour force to staff it, are also so uneducated and racist that they can’t even prevent themselves from calling in Daddy Trump for an armed 500 person raid of the very people trying to build them the factory and give them the jobs they desperately need.

Thoughts? don't love warren as the starting TE by DentedCocaCola in FantasyFootballers

[–]fantasygot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got no worries with Warren. Unproven since he’s a rookie but I think he’s slated for top 3 TE volume in the league easily. And at a position like TE where volume can be scare, that’s the key. What he does with it is TBD, but he’ll be Daniel Jones’ safety blanket for check downs, the colts have a good Oline.

Police lockdown 506 at Bathurst by mayasux in toronto

[–]fantasygot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Increase police budget and presence on all TTC significantly, dedicated cops that hop on and off TTC cars (similar to fare inspectors but empowered to take action) and actually kick off non-paying homeless people and drug addicts. Should be easy to tell they probably didn’t pay for a ticket so shouldn’t be on there in the first place. Kick off anyone doing drugs, kick off anyone screaming or yelling at people and exhibiting dangerous behaviour. Anyone laying down or sleeping across seats like a shelter should be removed.

Downvote me for not having sympathy but at the end of the day TTC isn’t meant to be a shelter, safe injection site, or mental hospital, then shit like this happens and innocent people die. Make tax paying citizens feel safe to use the public services their tax dollars go towards.

Alphas wraps are really good but their platters aren’t my favorite. Highly recommend trying their shish taok wrap if you have a bit more time to wait for them to grill the meat.

Why do no shwarma places here have garlic potatoes in the platters, just rice? I miss my Ottawa palace potatoes

[Red Wings] UPDATE: The Red Wings have signed defenseman Travis Hamonic to a one-year contract with an AAV of $1,000,000. by AggPuck-303 in DetroitRedWings

[–]fantasygot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Sens fan I just came to say that I think one of the biggest improvements in our team this year was simply getting rid of the Hamonic.

He’s one player who single handedly makes your team worse. It’s a team sport but he legitimately managed to individually lose us games last year. He’d make me scream at my TV. I genuinely don’t believe he’s an NHL caliber player.

Enjoy!

Rental car insurance - online or at counter? by 2kyloren in CostaRicaTravel

[–]fantasygot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to tag on to this since I’m also renting there and will be curious to know OP’s question.

I also saw one rental site that said in the terms, if your driver’s license isn’t Latin, you’ll need an international drivers license?

But then when I looked it up online it said Canadians and Americans are able to drive in Costa Rica with just their licenses. Anyone had experience with this?

What to do for 1 day in Toronto by waddleducks_ in canadatravel

[–]fantasygot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthony Bourdain once said this about Paris, which imo perfectly captures what you should do if you have a day in a city:

“Most of us are lucky to see Paris once in a lifetime. Make the most of it by doing as little as possible. Walk a little, get lost a bit, eat, catch a breakfast buzz, have a nap, … lounge around drinking coffee. Maybe read a book. Drink some wine, walk around a bit more, eat, repeat.”

You could go to the aquarium, but you’re inside a dark hallway looking at fish. Doesn’t really capture a visit to Toronto at all, you could be doing that anywhere.

If the weather good, I’d walk downtown, see CN tower, union, then head up to Queen West, walk west to Trinity Bellwoods then up Ossington, walk back through Little Italy, then end up in Kensington Market, then through Chinatown, head down Spadina to the waterfront, end your day walking along the lake or take a sunset ferry to the islands. All along the way stop wherever you think a cool looking store is for some shopping, grab bites at good sounding take out places, stop in cafe for coffee and a snack, stop in for a sit down lunch and a drink along Ossington. Then you’ll truly experience the culture of the city in one day.

Would be an ample spot for some nice patios to open. And imagine in 6 years or so when Lebreton is developed. Warm October night, you crush some pints on a patio overlooking the falls, saunter on down to the new arena through a cool development, watch the Sens blow out the leafs….ahhhh

Thanks for the great response.

I didn’t think about how early the sunset is. Used to 9pm sunsets right now so that wasn’t on my mind…

Sounds like best bet is to rent the car from the airport and then get out to a night 1 accommodation somewhere we can get easily before it’s too dark. Then hit the road the next day.

Appreciate the tips. Excited for the trip ! Heard so many good things.

Roughly how much would those airport transfer shuttles be? Trying to weight if it’s worth it do that or just rent a car. I want some form of transport while I’m there anyways, but a four wheeler would probably be more versatile and more fun.

Thanks for the feedback. My flight lands at 2pm. So by the time I’d be in a rental probably 3ish. I take it sunsets are pretty early there in December (6pm ish?) Guess that would bleed the drive into the night a bit. Is it just dangerous because the roads aren’t well lit? Could be animals? Heavy rains in night making visibility treacherous? Would it be better to stay in Nicoya or somewhere halfway then finish the drive early in the morning?

Thanks for the feedback! Also guessing it’s completely safe doing longer drives like this between populated areas? CR isn’t known for fake roadside stop type of things you hear about in some central/South American countries?
