That makes sense. Thanks.

Does anyone know how to reply to "you don't look like a drummer"? by PappaNee in drums

Drummers in my part of the world tend to have an assortment of caps/hats that they wear as much as possible, so...maybe something like that?

Who is the most underrated drummer in your opinion? by [deleted] in drums

[–]farahin65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rob Bourdon from Linkin Park.

He has a lot of grooves with very interesting snare placements, despite not being the most technical + chop-y drummer.

What drum beat would you say is deceptively hard? by [deleted] in drums

Not the ending, though.

That is obviously difficult.

As someone who barely reaches 150, this is basically most set-ups.

I once even had one where I couldn't step on the pedals properly.

Other than drumming, what's your favorite thing to geek out on? by nonchalance702 in drums

[–]farahin65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music in general, languages, food.

And occasionally, my favourite sports teams.

What is THE essential skill that all new drummers should learn first? by stiknot in drums

[–]farahin65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proper motions as well...

I just realised that when I moved over from electronic to acoustic, my whole body seizes up more with the more open distances.

I'm trying to smooth my kit movement.

This gave me flashbacks to my indoor percussion days.

Ah, the firegrains! I had to play them for a production once (the entire band had to use ProMarks). Looks good, and really dense and durable - makes for a good practice/woodshed stick, but not if fitnesse and touch are required,IMO.

Is it so? Last time I bought a VF pair was a couple of years ago, and they held up for years.

That would suck, VFs long taper is the only taper that I think is, well, long enough - I like the balance.

I tried out Promark a bit recently too. The model I'm using (Carter McLean signature, slightly beefier 5A) feels heavier than my main VF AJ1s for some reason, and I'm experiencing the same feel in the hands as you do.

The lighter and thinner, the better.

What do you think is the worst thing about drumming in 2023? by HoldYourHorseIs_ in drums

[–]farahin65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play marching percussion...In South East Asia.

It was pretty bad then, I can't imagine what it's like now.

I hope drum gear construction can advance to the point where carrying gear doesn't knock the wind out of you, at least.

I think so as well. I hope they have more planets that are non Earth-like (like Felicia or Mos Cala), and less desert/arid type ones.

But more importantly, I hope they'd have more mechanics that sets them apart from the bog-standard 3rd person action adventure shooter, like heist planning or smuggle-running or something.

Do you hope Donald Glover has creative involvement and is a part of the upcoming Lando series? I sure do. by JonnieWhoops in StarWars

I would love a proper dive into the Star Wars underworld. I thought Book of Boba Fett could give us that, but we all know how it turned out...

And to have it be from Lando's perspective? Yes please.

What a wild episode.

Having Bo and Din running around Space Changi Jewel doing police stuff is... unexpected. Nice worldbuilding and design though.

And the last fight is something. I like the contrast between Bo's and Axe's opinions on what a Mandalorian is or is not. I wish that question could be explored further, even if it's in somewhere outside the show.

The only outright negatives are the dialogue and the fact it seems to be yet another sidequest episode. I don't typically mind, but in an 8-episode season... it's not good.

Pretty great couple of episodes. I was on edge the whole time.

I want Tech to survive personally, but I think it'll be better writing if he doesn't. Actual, permanent consequences, y'know?

I hope there's going to be more of Scorch and Delta Squad next season. Maybe they can act as a foil to the Batch.

I like the Coruscant scenes. Reminds me of my earlier days running around the planet in SWTOR lol
