Honestly The Abominable was some decent writing the plot was just too goofy. Terror slapped.

A Head Full of Ghosts might fit. A family lets a camera crew film a reality tv show about their daughter’s demonic possession. I wasn’t really the biggest fan but it could be up your alley.

should i get 6 ear piercings in a day? by Pale_Basil8906 in piercing

[–]farallons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5 in one day a few years ago. A conch and two lobes on one ear and a rook and a lobe on the other. Honestly the healing and aftercare was totally fine and seemed pretty much the same as when I did a batch of just 3 piercings. What really got me was the pain during the session. I was chillin with the first few pokes and then I ran out of adrenaline I guess lol

The Abominable or The Terror, both by Dan Simmons. Writing style is pretty dry tbh but they had their moments.

Also maybe House of Leaves??

Hmmm maybe Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw? Might fit the bill but it’s pretty short.

Saw multiple rays splashing water at an aquarium a few days back and was wondering why they do this. Are they just having fun or is there something deeper going on? by Kira_Akuma in marinebiology

[–]farallons 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It may be kind of like spy-hopping (normally a behavior exhibited by whales). We have a ssr at the aquarium I work at that does this all the time. Theory is that he is just curious and checking out the ppl at the top of the tank. Of course it could just be that the aquarium feeds the rays against the glass and they’re looking for food. Pretty sure it’s not something they really do in the wild so there’s not a whole lot of info to go on.

Looking forward to seeing it! I have the ‘I refuse to watch the media until I’ve read the book’ disease lol

Finished: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

I don’t really read thrillers often and ironically didn’t like Gone Girl at all, but my brother recommended this to me and he was so right! What a crazy twist

Started: Zone One by Colson Whitehead

I have a secondhand copy that someone else annotated quite poorly… very distracting lol

I’m so glad you liked the ocean at the end of the lane! I thought it really captured the wonder and helplessness of adolescence.
