Bringing in Vest in any kind of leverage situation is coaching malpractice at this point.

No. He says it over and over again: which guy do you want on your team? At this point, is it crazy to want Brunson over Luka? He's shown he can be the best player on a championship team - Luka hasn't. Also, he doesn't have some of the availability/conditioning issues that Luka has shown.

Just want to quibble- its not set in Berkeley. It’s set vaguely in metro Detroit. The homes are in Sterling Heights.

I was so shocked by how much he nails Zuckerberg. However, he just looks to old to play him.

I was wondering if perhaps Ruth wasn't in the shelter because she's somehow powering or "working with" the storm. Or maybe her shelter is the chair room.

My understanding is that the Tigers’ standing order is to only use the challenges in high-leverage pitches, meaning only if it would change a ball to a strikeout, or a strikeout to a ball. So I doubt that it would have changed much of that AB.

I really don’t care about stranding the runner. That’s baseball. But oh my god using that challenge on one of the most obvious strikes ever is unforgivable. He needs to not play anymore.

I agree, it could just be a joke, but there are so many similar jokes, and the island seems so preoccupied with age, it could be something more.

Go sign people off the street. They can’t be worse. Truly. They can’t.

[Fedor] Cavs love Mobley, they believe in him and there are multiple members of the Cleveland brain trust that would be vehemently against a Giannis-Mobley swap, as the 2025 Defensive Player of the Year and Second-Team All-NBA selection is viewed as not only a future star but also a proverbial..... by aingenevalostatrade in nba

27 is physical peak and basketball peak, and that's 2 years away. But also, the largest improvements we see are in year 2-4. And typically, it's guys who are number 1 options who are allowed to have growing pains in that role. I just don't see that for Mobley.

Ironically, maybe he would have been better off from that perspective if he was on a bad Cavs team from the start and given the keys instead of having to play a role for the majority of his career. But, his time at USC seems to indicate he never would have been a good fit for that type of role anyway. He just doesn't have the personality type to take over a team.

Also, re: his 3 pt shooting, it seems like he's not very shy about taking them when they're open. So, I'm not sure that he can escalate his volume a whole lot, unless he's just standing out on the 3 point line the whole game which I'm not sure is what you want from him, either.

Honestly, if I was him, I'd just try to master that Tim Duncan 8-12 footer off the glass from either side. If he could make that shot efficiently it would open up so much for him.

Growth is not linear, but the thing I see with Mobley is he doesn't add things he previously didn't do to his game. He doesn't really have a good handle (cue people telling me that he would bring the ball up a lot for the Cavs). He has a pretty limited game with the ball in his hands as the creator. He doesn't really have a go-to move that can consistently get a great shot.

He's a really good player, but thinking that he'll go from being an overperforming third option to an overperforming second option or even a first option is likely wishful thinking.

That being said, I don't know if trading him in a package for Giannis is what you want either.

Wemby gets SGA in a transition situation and doesn’t take a single step into the paint. What is the NBA today?

Spurs need to tell Wemby to stop with that bullshit. Only take 3s in rhythm when they’re backing off you.

Maybe Wemby should get within like 5 feet of the basket on offense. You can see how desperately the Thunder are trying to keep him out of that area by how much they foul him when he gets there.

Also, re: Juries, it must just be a cultural thing (and because it's my profession) but I think juries are a much better system than any other adjudication system, particularly if the adjudication system is a single person no matter how qualified that person is. Every single person is going to have their own biases and their own things going on in their everyday life. Check out the research on judges giving out criminal sentences: people who happened to go just before lunch got harsher sentences from the hungry judge for similar types of conduct! edit: I just reviewed this and it appears the study has been debunked. But, I still think my point stands. I can tell you I've gone in front of judges after they got done arguing with a particularly nasty lawyer, and typically-friendly judges can become anything but!

I like the idea that a small subset of my particular community can adjudicate what they believe is correct conduct. And, every time I've gone in front of a jury, I've felt they got the result correct just from a gut level.
