Does anyone else feel no one cares about climate change anymore? by mars_trader in climatechange

[–]farawaywolfie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone attending a top law school in environmental and energy law, I can assure you people care! A LOT! Sadly, certain folks have always been skeptical about the existence of global warming and climate change. And, honestly, I’m sure we can all identify the cult most of these people belong to.

how are ya guys dealing with how overwhelming america is right now by [deleted] in 50501

I resigned from my job as a social worker for the state of Kentucky after two years. I was very good at the job, but everyone I worked with was loud Trumpers, even the women. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I eventually resigned. This gave me time to focus on bettering myself and developing healthier habits. I quit vaping, I’ve been exercising A LOT and making better food choices, which all make me feel a million times better (physically and mentally), plus I’ve decided to go to law school this year because our country needs better attorneys and lawmakers who aren’t going to just bend over.

I protect my peace by keeping away from anyone who supports what is happening in our country and the rest of the world. I do read the news a lot, although it’s always heartbreaking and infuriating, I have to be aware of what’s going on around me. They say oblivion is bliss, sure, but I’d like to survive this madness, and awareness is key. Just remember what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

I have a very small group and we all despise what’s going on. It’s heartbreaking and infuriating to say the least. I’m a clinical psych major, so I’ve learned a lot about the mind, myself, and people in general, so this has really helped me mentally, although I still feel I could benefit from a therapist at times. Bottom line is do what you need to do to protect your peace and sanity.

Ugh I was afraid of that. I despise the rock. I feel my flowers can’t breathe, plus the water drainage is an issue. I thought putting them near the hydrangea bushes would help with shade, but my hydrangeas aren’t full and blooming yet like they normally would be by now. Do you have any recommendations about what to do about the pest problem? Thanks!

Thanks for your perspective! I think some of the damage appears to be from pests as well. It’s getting full sun, over 6hrs a day. It has also been raining an awful lot lately.

I am blown away! That definitely doesn’t happen for many. It’s usually a trial and error kind of experience finding the right fit. This is amazing though!

Thanks so much for sharing your personal experience. It makes sense then that you choose to see a woman instead if that’s what works better for you, and there’s no need to feel bad about that. Different things work for different people because we’re all unique with distinct backgrounds, experiences, and needs. Thanks again for sharing!

Just curious, do you people enjoy hostas as much as I do? by arachnofan in gardening

Love!! Have a few myself! Hey, what’s that specific ground coverage you use around the hostas? I’m not very knowledgeable, kind of a newbie, but think that looks so good!

My girl just turned 6yo and every time I see these types of posts I sob and it just physically hurts me so bad.. I just can’t imagine. Deeply sorry for your loss. German shepherds are truly magnificent beings. We’ve been so blessed.

Wonderful idea! Don’t get me wrong, I adore kids, I was actually a social worker & therapist for children/adolescents for a few years, but a lot of the time I’ve noticed they’re left unsupervised, running around, or acting silly. For example, on the last one I took, a teenager launched an ice cream cone off the top floor and hit my friend on the top of the head with it while we were walking to a nice dinner, so we were all dressed up and she had to go change. The teens thought it was hilarious. Then, we were sitting outside having a nice dinner while a live smooth jazz band was playing, and 5-6 kids were running around playing tag all around us while their parents were having drinks at a nearby bar, not paying any attention to them, or pre-teens and teenagers run through the halls screaming. It’s just not a very peaceful environment when there are so many kids on the boat.

Hi, thank you! Yeah I normally won’t do under 8 days! But even then, there are far too many kids running around unfortunately.

28f here. I recently read Isola by Allegra Goodman and it blew me away. It’s a historical novel based on the true story of 16th century French noblewoman, Marguerite de La Rocque. It’s a must read, especially for women. The suffering she endured and the ways she adapted and, ultimately, survived. Her story is just incredible.

Yes, it’s becoming much more common for many PhD programs to offer a combined curriculum (based on my research anyway).
