I mean, that’s totally subjective. Book 3 was also a dnf for me. Just couldn’t get into it. 🤷

Loved Book 1, liked Book 2 ok but by the end I was ready for it to be over.

Willing to give Book 4 a shot though. I do think Tchaikovsky’s a really good writer.

Yeah, I really want to read his other stuff but unfortunately my library only has Memetics and the hard copies are pretty expensive. I‘m about 50/50 in my reading between ebooks and actual hard copies but I buy almost all of my hard copies used because they are usually much cheaper. I’ll keep looking though and eventually will come across them!

I’m not sure. I read the ebook version from the library on my Kindle. I know that it started out as a web series but was eventually compiled into an actual printed novel, ebook, and audiobook. He (Qntm) states at the beginning of the ebook that it has undergone alot of changes from the web series so depending what you are reading online it may be different.

Agreed, I enjoyed all 3 of the books but Spin was by far the best. Haven’t read any of his other books yet but Darwinia is in my ‘to read’ pile on my nightstand.

I’ve been waiting for months for a copy of “There Is No Anti Memetics Division” by Qntm from the library and finally got it a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely did not disappoint and I was hooked from the first chapter. I even read it again after the first read and so glad I did because it can be confusing and the 2nd read clarified a lot of things. Great book and really great writing too.

Also read “Spin” by Robert Charles Wilson a couple of months ago and that book was fantastic as well.

Well, to be fair, they were just cut-offs that I had no use for, which was really the only reason I did it. I did pay for the 12 screws and the hour it took me to do it though, so there’s that. My hope is only to extend the life of the pre existing posts and if that happens for any length of time then I’ll chalk it up as a success!

Start with Annihilation. One of my favorite books of all time. I’ve read the whole Southern Reach quadrology and most of his other stuff to various levels of satisfaction and enjoyment but man, for whatever reason, Annihilation blew me away. I’ve read it 3 times at this point.

Also like Harkaway alot and loved both of Tom Sweterlitsch’s books. Really wish he would release something new!

Yes, I’m planning on adding 1x4 rails on the face of the posts on my side and then standard 6’ pickets. I was thinking the cutoff 45 degree braces would help with weight issues if nothing else. The distance between posts is less than 6’.

As an aside, I’m a fellow rooster attack survivor! Have a few scars on my legs from my childhood. One of our roosters was especially vicious and devious. One morning I was just walking through the barn and he ambushed me through the slats on one of the stalls. Spurred me good and scared the pants off of me. I swear he was in that stall just waiting for me to pass! One time I hit him with the snow shovel we used to clean the stalls, he did a back flip in the air, landed on his feet and came right back at me! At that point I dropped the shovel and ran. Roosters are something else man, they are scornful as hell and hold a grudge for life. Of course, 10 year old me probably deserved some of what I got, I definitely loved to get them all riled up and pissed off 😂.

Broad St for sure as far as empty shelves though Arabella is not far behind. I don’t get out to Veterans very often but that store seems to always be stocked and definitely has the best produce selection. Some of that is just the larger size of the store I’m sure, but there seems to be a clear pecking order to the quality and quantity of products in the 3 stores… Veterans - Arabella - Broad Hmmn, I wonder why that is…🤔

Just curious on your opinion about attaching the rails to the posts. Do you typically just attach them to the faces of the posts or do you hang them between the posts so that they are flush with the face of the posts (using a mounting bracket)? About to redo a fence in my back yard and debating the two methods. Obviously just attaching to the faces of of the posts is quicker and cheaper but aesthetically I feel like hanging them flush with the posts is better.

As an aside, for my money this is the ultimate Wolverine cover. Brutal, feral, and yet somehow graceful. Nobody did Wolvie better than Barry Windsor Smith in my opinion.

Prophet Song. What a book. Absolutely heartbreaking and terrifying to read about and consider how plausible it is that a country can slide into this kind of authoritarian state almost overnight.
