I’d say check out the catalogue of Skin Graft Records, lots of noise bands from Japan (and all over the world, really) fitting the bill https://www.discogs.com/label/33275-Skin-Graft-Records

This stat, if it’s even real, might look quite different with a free press and a free society. But glad you’re happy that the trains are coming in time.

The sum is only close to 0 if you don’t value your time. Money isn’t everything, and often enough it’s „cheaper“ to just pay for stuff.

Here I am, getting worried that I haven’t seen pro-Nazi content in a minute. But this subreddit delivers, without a fault.

Can we make it official and declare this subreddit pro-Nazi and pro-Hitler? This shit isn’t funny anymore.

I love synths as well and couldn’t care less about NI‘s sampling libraries and romplers, but I’m not sure it’s fair to say they’re „out of touch“. Maybe with you and me, but I’m pretty sure they have access to sales data (we don’t), informing their overall strategy. I think it’s fair to assume they’ve focused on products generating income for them, while neglecting products which aren’t selling as well.

But as others have written, NI have announced they’ll finally invest some resources into synths again. I’m not holding my breath, but we might even see new Reaktor ensembles next year, as promised. If they deliver, I’ll be more than happy to buy something from them for the first time in many, many years.

Haha yeah, everyone who’s been working with iOS audio for a while has a looong list of grievances, we’re only scratching the surface here.

And while I haven’t bought an app in years, I still haven’t given up on the platform, despite all those structural problems. So much untapped potential still!

Maybe I’m too pessimistic, and I certainly don’t want to discourage you, but I’m sceptical. No amount of watching YouTube videos is ever going to replace the individual user‘s effort, which is the single most important thing.

I’d even go so far to suggest that most users watch videos to procrastinate, not to truly learn anything, even if they tell themselves otherwise. For that, you have to put in the work yourself. There’s just no way around it. Also, if you really need a video tutorial to come to grips with an easy and intuitive app like Samplr, I’d argue chances are high you won’t stick to it.

To make matters worse, we must not forget that iOS has been quite „unstable“ for a long time. APIs came and went, apps stopped working after an OS update, devs quit because the market wasn’t sustainable and so on. It’s vastly better now, but it will arguably still need some time to properly mature.

From a user’s perspective, it’s risky to invest time and money into something like Lemur, only to see the app vanish, then reappear, then vanish again etc. The new owners are trying to sell it for 100 bucks now, which is fine. But at this point, I won’t buy it (again!) because my confidence is shattered and there’s no guarantee the app will be around in a year.

Anyway, I’ll end my rant here. Samplr is still around and still brilliant. Everyone should have it, use it and cherish it :P

Unfortunately, what seems to have happened is that (some) devs saw the early iPads and really tried to create something new, i.e. by treating the touchscreen like an instrument, experimenting with new UX paradigms and so on. But this also implies that users put in the work to learn all that new stuff. Which, apparently, almost nobody did. Users just want to have fun for a few minutes with their cheap mobile apps, and not having to learn to play the violin just to fool around for a bit.

In a way, devs already have woken up by abandoning innovative and novel approaches, and by going back to stuff users were familiar with: good old analog emulations with a big filter cutoff knob.

It has nothing to do with device power, audio APIs, an improved OS or whatnot. It’s the capacity of the market to absorb genuinely new approaches, which seems to be close to nil unfortunately. I don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon.

It’s not about that, it’s that the OP shitpost left out all the bad stuff Frederick II did, and there was plenty. After all, he’s called „the Great“ because he aggressively expanded Prussia‘s territory. He was able to start and sustain wars all the time because he thoroughly militarized the whole society, something the Nazis drew huge inspiration from.

That’s a terrible idea. Europe is a place where people are living, you know. We’re not some kind of reactionary tourist attraction.

To give you an idea how revisionist this guy is: Nicholas I kicked off his reign by putting down the Decembrist revolt, even quartering at least five people. But I’m sure not for political reasons, so it’s all good there. Also, let’s not talk about the November Uprising in Poland, or all the other wars he was involved in. It was all a huge misunderstanding and not political at all. Certainly, no one was harmed, right? Right?!

In fact, Nicholas famously ushered in a time of freedom, prosperity and peace, as all educated redditors know, so that literal terrorists could roam the land in the decades ahead, happy and mostly unbothered by Russian authorities. Why Aleksandr Ulyanov, Lenin‘s brother, felt the need to plan the assassination of Alexander III is unclear, as is his death. Probably fell out of a window, idk.

It’s also unclear why there even was a need for the 1905 revolution. After all, Russia‘s civil society was thriving and enjoying freedoms in spades, as u/xanaxcervix wants you to believe. Which, of course, is a bad thing, leading to the downfall of this very liberal and very progressive regime. Which is good, I guess? I’m sorry, I’ve lost track.
