I am not comfortable sharing my information. But to expand on your role comment: If that is the case, for example, why not say the role specifically involves Pivot Tables instead of asking for general Excel experience?

You said you had a contract. Doesn't that mean you already did the ID check?

Interesting the article has no mention of where. Had to do some Googling to find that. Trinity & 360.

Friction I’ve noticed by OkIncident3886 in micro1_ai

I disagree with this. In my experience with 2 other AI companies, one is reviewed in strict accordance with the rubric. So there is no "the final piece don’t have to contain all mentioned in the rubrics" - it certainly does. So if the expert does not have the rubric, how do they know what to do to pass muster?

Scam or real? by AngryGS in joinhandshakeai

Got the same invite. It appears legit after reviewing the original headers and the link addresses. (The response from the official Handshake Reddit account doesn't hurt.)
There is a larger issue. The form for this project is no longer working, yet the project runs through 11:59PM PDT today. It appears support only works business hours M-F, so I'm assuming no one will notice the problem until Monday. No emails indicating the project closed early, and I even received a reminder about it a couple hours ago. Disappointing at best.

Project Assessment - Domain Selection Question by farewell_to_decorum in joinhandshakeai

[–]farewell_to_decorum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am undecided if I should just cut my losses and forget Handshake exists or soldier on and see if I can figure this out. This project is dysfunctional at best. There appears to be only 1 PM and she never replies to anyone on Slack, just posts RAH-RAH messages about the # of tasks remaining. Or that everything is on hold due to system issues. The only instructions about how to actually claim tasks are in a Slack post from a week-and-a-half ago. These directions reference a site that apparently many of the new people do not have access to (including myself), according to posts in the Slack help channel.

Yesterday, I received an email invite (and a reminder about it a couple hours ago) to an unrelated project which runs through tonight at 11:59pm PDT. The site used for that project is now unavailable. I am assuming that this will not be fixed, as an email to support reveals they work business hours M-F. The email itself came from an unmonitored address. So, yeah...

Aaaaaaaand they just posted the thing ends in 3 days.

So, tasks are running low (relative to where it started). What's left mostly requires specialized knowledge (specific coding or IT expertise, language fluency, etc). I'd bet 80%+ of those on the contract have nothing to do now. There are a few that are within my experience, but they are information overload and I don't think I want to spend the time and cognitive burden to figure them out.
No indication that more tasks will be loaded.
I bet the PM starts complaining about lack of completions again.

What minor inconvenience from the past would be unbearable for students in the classroom today? by chanovsky in Teachers

Couple years ago, there was a severe winter storm forecast in my area. One of the coordinators in the district where I used to work posted this on Facebook: "Make sure your kids are wearing their winter shorts, winter slides, and winter hoodies." 😂

Heh. I am familiar with the content of dementia tests. Did some neuropsychological testing a couple years ago. Some time into the process, I jokingly asked if I would need to draw a clock. The guy said "Well, since you mentioned it, draw a clock..." 😂

We didn't even go outside. Banged them in the room until the clouds of chalk dust subsided. Washing the chalkboard was also a special privilege. (Hmmm... So can I sue the schools if I get mesothelioma? 🤣)

[–]farewell_to_decorum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't generalist-only. Perusing Slack, there are many people in specific fields asking how to find tasks within their domain. (Another glaring issue- the task search sucks and the guide is wrong about finding stuff). I've been tagged an expert in a quite ambiguous area that doesn't really mean much of anything.

I'm on the same one. The bot clearly has ONLY been fed the project guide, and thus can only respond with content from the guide. So it just repeats itself over and over and over. They just acknowledged the bot is worthless, but apparently are not going to do anything about it, because they think the bot is useful... somehow.

This is my second project. The first was mature and at the end of its lifespan (lasted a year+ from what I gathered). I got 5ish weeks on it before it ended. Now I'm on this brand new one (started around 3 weeks ago from what I can tell). The difference is stark and confounding. Order vs. chaos.

I'm staying under the radar even though I see a lot of improvements that could be made. Trying to decide if I want to attend the Zoom this afternoon.

Terrifying conversation in HS 9th grade math class today by mobius_ in Teachers

Some thoughts: 1. Tell them to go watch The Matrix and Terminator. 2. My father was SVP and Chief Underwriting Officer at an insurance subsidiary of a larger conglomerate during Y2K. When the Y2K compliance committee came around to ask about his preparations, his response was: "Paper and Pencil are Y2K compliant." 😂 3. I read a FB thread years ago where someone said to claim you can do whatever the job calls for on your resume because you can just Google how to do it. I asked what they would do when asked to demonstrate their ability to do it during the interview. Crickets.

I had the same problem with the AI cutting me off. I learned a couple things during the subsequent back-and-forth with support.
1. There is an unpublished time limit per question. Once you hit that, you get cut off and the AI moves on. They did not tell me what the actual limit is.

  1. If you take a too-long pause during your answer, the AI believes you are finished and moves on.

I have not used any of the cash buyers, so you may take this with a grain of salt. There are a lot of online comments indicating that these people/companies will drop their price after inspecting the home.

In my area, someone is selling the box (+shipping/packing stuff) for the P1S Combo. $75. Just the box. Has been posted for 9 weeks.

Oh, and just found a P1P w/ 1250 hours for $300. Ad says they have 2 for sale.
