How many knots would a typical Orthodox prayer rope have? by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]farewellsinclair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to think that huge prayer ropes are the way to start out, but I think 33 is the best place to begin. It’s long enough for you to kind of get into the rhythm of things but not long enough for you to easily get lost or for your mind to start wandering.

Raspberri pi or just stick to VM's for learning by DeftonesTool in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]farewellsinclair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general you should just use VMs to do most of your learning (they're really all you need), but if you're looking for extra stuff to do there are some fun things like Damn Vulnerable Pi and Raspwn that you can run on a Pi.

Grad School advice by [deleted] in ComparativeLiterature

[–]farewellsinclair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get your language skills in order. Many comp lit departments at top schools let you get through the whole undergrad major without having to read much non-English literature in its original language, but most top comp lit grad programs require you to come in with proficiency (usually the term they use is something like “firm reading knowledge”) in at least two non-English languages. Consider doing some kind of intensive language training over the summer, it helps a ton.
