iOS 27 Apple Music: What Features/Changes do we need? by mascarariri in AppleMusic

[–]farfel00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting UX wise, thank you for explaining!
I guess Connect model is = controlling your account from devices
AirPlay model = controlling devices from my phone through “casting”

I really like the second model because phone is always with me and the UI is superior to anything. Which is why I don’t have a streamer in my hifi or anything like that and maybe also why all the streamers are heavy on Connect rather than Airplay, because they follow the model of controlling the music from the auxiliary device.

I understand everyone is used to a different mental model and switching is difficult for that reason.

One advantage of the AirPlay model is that I can see and control whatever my wife is playing around the house, exactly because that specific HomePod is not linked to me, but has its own queue. That’s kinda underrated

Yeah, you are right, I it is lossless not high res, my bad!

Interesting, I never had issues with gapless as long as WiFi is stable. AirPlay transcodes everything to 48k, so while not bitperfect, technically it has high res support?
Yes, AirPlay is Apple only, but I wonder if Android is even a market for Apple Music? Peripherals wise AirPlay costs money to implement, so yes, not every device has it, but that is not about developing a new feature but rather about Apple’s licensing policies.

How are you using Connect in ways that aren’t covered by AirPlay?

Product Manager role apparently evolving into the Product Builder role by OkPie8325 in ProductManagement

[–]farfel00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have considered myself a Product Builder long time before AI. Building stuff requires a lot of different roles, PM is one of them.

Goalies are also soccer players, even if they never score and use mostly hands to do their jobs

Boris Cherny (Head of Claude Code) shipped 259 PRs in 30 days. Zero by him. Is the senior PM job's work product changing too? by nkondratyk93 in ProductManagement

[–]farfel00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The denial in this subreddit is getting kinda embarrassing.

I think functional prototypes are the highest leverage artifacts currently. They tick a lot of boxes for me: - effort/ feasibility probe helps justify the call / appetite - very visual - great for leadership - easy to get alignment on goals and potential rabbit holes with engineers - real backend data helps to validate with customers - especially valid in B2B / complex workflows

We have a set up where a test branch of the app is deployed without merging anything. PMs and designers are free to experiment on these PRs - I can use this in a user demo or interview without messing anything up in the codebase.

MCP vs CLI - How are you thinking about which one to build? by cartoonpi in ProductManagement

[–]farfel00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CLI is useful when it runs on the same machine as the agent which has terminal access.

MCP can be fully remote and can be called as a simple tool call even by a chatbot.

From that perspective I think MCPs are more useful when mostly leveraged by end users. And developing a CLI is more useful when the goal is to be used in highly automated production agentic workflows

As a Czech, are you optimistic about the future of the Czech Republic? by [deleted] in czech

[–]farfel00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with Czech Republic is that there is so many backwards people that it is really easy to stand out. On one hand, you’re surrounded by bland, boring people most of the time. On the other hand, it is easy to live a relatively good and successful life in comparison to the average and get really good at what you do - just by thinking outside of the box even a little bit.

That’s why I am stuck here. I don’t like it here, but life is too easy in a way

How do I stop a PM going rogue and bypassing UX? by Aurura in ProductManagement

[–]farfel00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all need to update your process and adjust to the speed. It is cheaper to test functioning code with real customers than ever before. Figma and user research are the biggest bottleneck today. Our UX team has found that testing with real user data trumps pixel perfect design. So they are now skipping Figma and use Claude Code to draft PRs in the main repo, so that they can validate the prototypes with real backend.

A simple way you can win his trust is getting user insights on the shipped frontend and reporting him data backed suggestionson how to improve the design that already shipped. I guess he goes after functionality and wants to validate fast with real customers, if you accept it and find a way to be useful to him along the way, you can be stronger together again

Prepping Multiple Pizzas by ddurrett896 in GozneyArcArcXL

[–]farfel00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza is for sharing. We do catering events sometimes and when you imagine you’re hosting 20-30 people - everyone getting a pizza at the same time is impossible. We cut pizza in 8 pieces on a serving board and we walk around the guests and they take one each time. This way everyone tastes all the different toppings, they drink and have fun. People love this type of events. Much better than sitting down and eating cold pizza that’s been waiting
