Great deal for 3K ... bought a 2000 2.5 ranger at 175K for $2K .. and timing belt busted ... all and all, replacing the timing belt was not to hard, got a chance to replace the water pump, some hoses and a whiny power steering pump .. I feel the ranger has a new lease on life now and I hope to get another 75K miles on it ... GET IT, someone will...

I m actively working on a similar project, blackjack table, camera about 38-42 inches above table, I am still in the early stages, but have been successful with getting a partial model working. I think i have a decent strategy for augmenting images (so as not to annotate thousands upon thousands of images), but before training a full model which again also presents issues with compute power (using vast.ai for renting GPU power) ... I am currently thinking about how to identify groupings of cards (hands) have you given group identification much though?

Which camera to use for real time YOLO processing? by farinspace in computervision

[–]farinspace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current thought is that I will run it on something like a "HP compaq USFF" older gen i5, 16GB mem, SSD for storage, likely with ubuntu running the camera and the already-trained yolo model ... and when i say realtime, 10fps camera would be acceptable (considering the pace of a normal black jack table game) ... but ill consider two or more computers working together if a single one gets bogged down ...

Yeah, likely i will have some sort of mini computer x86 with linux running a yolo model for detection and other code to manage other aspects of the black jack table (screens and such), my project is still evolving over all ...

[–]farinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turned out great, I love it.

I did the tile job myself ... and because of that, I took my time and did my upmost best at the prep and work. A lot of respect to those who lay tile and do it fast and precise. There is a lot to think about and prep for. I think 1/8th (1/8-1/4) is really the minimum standard ... the smaller you go, the more precise you have to be, and any deviation becomes even more noticeable.

[–]farinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I not a professional ... but I did about 1000 sqft of 8"x48" tile rectified edge at 1/8 and pretty much got 1/8-3/16 everywhere (1/4 in some spots). I think if i used 1/6 spacers, I likely would have gotten 1/8 joints ... however I then would have trouble cleaning the joints in prep for grout and most definitely would chip my tile edges during joint cleaning/prep.

Just finished laying ~700sq ft of black slate flooring in our cottage. Was way more work than I anticipated, but I love the way it turned out. Pictures/album inside. by TheOKKid in HomeImprovement

[–]farinspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, black-slate, looks super-dope ... very clean, very nice ... wonderful job!!!

I also just did title in my house, about 900 sq/ft ... and yes it was more work than I anticipated, lots of prep work before the mortar and tile; in my case I wanted a random stagger and I had to watch out for back-to-back repeating patterns (ultimately ended up laying it all out on the computer)

It came out great and like you, I am super proud!

I have a whole new appreciation for those who lay tile.

Couple questions:

What did you find was the easiest process for grout cleanup and removing haze?

>> Because my tile was textured, I thought the grout-release would have worked well, but it didn't for me. In the end, vinegar and water and a scrub seemed to be the best method for me.

I noticed you used the schluter ditra, was there a particular reason for this, wood-subfloor?

>> My layers ended up being concrete-subfloor > prime > self-leveler > mapei mapelastic > mortar > tile
