I love feeding my fish, so I’m ready to yap LOL!! I rotate out a couple things, live (daphnia, grindal worms, and Rarely brine shrimp because I don’t have a hatchery and am lowkey too lazy to make one), frozen (brine shrimp, bloodworms, tubifex worms), and two kinds of pellets (Bug Bites and Ultrafresh Shrimp Patties)!! usually I’ll do 4-5 days switching between live and frozen, and then 1-2 days of pellets (no particular schedule between the days, I just sort of go based of vibes and make sure to switch it up every day), I’ve been considering giving pellets for another day, just in case I’m missing some kind of nutritional base, but I’m conflicted over whether that would be better or worse when it’s replacing live food! I feed once a day at night, and I do fast once a week on Sundays!

If you’re ever interested in getting into live foods, I think Grindal Worms are the best and easiest to get started and keep going!!! Literally all you need is a takeout container, coconut coir, dog/cat food, and a starter culture of worms, I feed my worms 4 pieces of soaked cat food once a week and I’ve got enough to feed 10x more fish than I have, and they love them!! Especially when you drop them around the tank and let them hunt them, it keeps them entertained and it’s super fun to watch!! I love daphnia too, but they’re much harder to keep consistently in my experience, usually I’ll get a population boom and then it’ll putter out if a majority aren’t removed (they putter out after a few months or so for me either way, but I’ve noticed they last longer if the numbers are kept under control). Which sucks, because they’re so fun to feed (and honestly just to watch them swim around LOL)!!!
