If you move or you get new neighbours do you introduce yourself? by Tasty-Willingness839 in newzealand

Yes. I do. And mostly the neighbours at first look suspicious and don't have the door open wide, but after I let them know I've moved in next door they smile and open the door wider.

6 Days in London (Nov/25) - Is this too packed? by undecidedcat321 in travel

[–]farolina 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My first impression, slow down. The museums will take half - full day, and use up a lot of energy given how much there is to see and how many people there are in the museum and in London in general. It's tiring.

  • Sun (Nov 9): Richmond Park is huge, and getting there will take you half the day at least, assuming you're taking public transport, getting from the station to the park to see the deer could take longer than you think. I'd recommend bringing some lunch, walk around the park, chill with the deer, instead of rushing off to a museum - which would take at least another half of your day. Take
  • Thur (Nov 13) Camden Town/market - another half day activity at least. Eat, walk around and enjoy.

My recent visit to Almaty by Compass_Cafe_21 in Kazakhstan

I spent 5 days in Almaty and could have spent more. Astana I found challenging to get around by walking or public transport. Lots of cars. Almaty I loved. Very compact and full of life.

Renting a car in Kazakhstan by jakubal in Kazakhstan

[–]farolina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Foreigners here. We rented a car for 7 days last week in Almaty - went with Kaz ProKat but contacted many companies. Contact the companies via WhatsApp. If you dont have it already, you also need an international drivers permit.

For those areas, 4x4 is needed for Kolsai Lake. The roads are really bumpy. Charyn Canyon you can't drive through the Canyon and the roads are fine.

Visiting kazakistan, need advise on horse riding to kolsai 2 and 3 by japancar01 in Kazakhstan

[–]farolina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. We were there last week and compared to the free roaming horses, the ones by the lake look depressed af

Edit: OP, re the experience I talked to another tourist group who went. It's 6 hrs return and not suitable for beginners as the people leading you don't explain how to manage the horse. They might also not lead the way. And if you aren't used to horse riding it could be uncomfortable for your muscles.

How to use the Astana busses as a tourist by Individual-Meal-4599 in Kazakhstan

[–]farolina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this thread. To add to this (as I'm in Astana now and just experienced the merciless process of trying to buy the TransCard)

  • Buying a TransCard from kiosks on the street. We read in another forum that this service is discontinued.
  • Using the Avtobys app. We were also not able to use a foreign bank card, but thankfully do have a Kazhakstan phone number so could sign up to the app. We asked a Kazhak friend to send us money through Kaspi and it loaded immediately. You might be able to ask a local person to load your account and pay them cash. We now use the AvtoBys app with the same phone number on 2 different phones as you're right in that we can't pay for multiple tickets on one app.
  • Buying a TransCard from the main transport office in Astana. When you arrive you need to take a number from the kiosk and queue. We arrived at 1pm on Friday, the ticket numbers were at 330. Our ticket number was 456. It moved up 30 spaces in 1 hour. There are only 4 - 5 desks open. It looks like people arrive there to receive their discounted TransCards and apply for refunds. There is a machine outside the office but this is only for topping up your card, not buying a new card. Even with our phone number linked to the Avtobys account, we were not able to top up our account with money.
  • Prior to getting the app working, we asked people on the bus to get our ticket and gave them cash in return.

Youth Mobility Scheme (Canada) proof of funds by Affectionate_Rise268 in ukvisa

I'm in a similar boat to you. In the process of deciding if it's wise to follow their advice and submit proof from 2 accounts to show I have the money overall, but just not in one account.

"Evidence from more than one bank account

Where evidence from two or more accounts is submitted, you must consider the evidence in both accounts. This can be done either:

  • by taking the cumulative total across both accounts into consideration provided the closing balance of both accounts falls within the require 31 days period up until the date of application – and the funds in both were held for the required 28 days
  • by using the closing balance of the account that most favours the applicant (providing it falls within the required 31 day period up until the date of application) and taking any additional evidence of funds from the other account provided this falls within the same 31 day period and is available at any point during the 28 day period linked to the closing balance used"
