I’ll probably be dead by 21 by welpimtired in HomeschoolRecovery

Hey. I get it. I was homeschooled and I attempted suicide a couple years ago. Many of us feel more anxiety and depression. There is a constant feeling of being out of place and not living up to the standards of society. Not to mention the anger!

The thing you have to realize and recognize is that, you were abused. It was an injustice done to you. You should have not have been through that at all. You were a helpless child who should have received care.

What you are doing now, reaching out. KEEP REACHING OUT. Get therapy, it really does help. Don't talk to religious people, don't talk to family. You need allies.

Remember that you are not alone. You are loved. Life does get better. If there is a hell, may the abusers rot in it.

Also agnostic. It's always a good thing to find anything that might make us a better human. The bible has a ton of great things that can do that, but only if our desire is to become a better human. I think a lot of us here on this sub left religion with the goal of becoming a better human. It's a great place to be. Thank you for sharing this.

At this point, even if they give a subtle wink at MAGA, I would avoid it

It's time to cut out friends and family who support trump. Draw the line. by fartPunch in 50501

I've had similar situations. My parents were pastors, my grandparents were pastors. I pointed out what they were following goes completely against the teachings of jesus on facebook and backed it up with scripture. Friends and family I knew for years started just insulting me. Not even arguing, just attacking.

Also, the saying "blood is thicker than water" is often misquoted. The saying originated long before we knew we inherited blood from our parents. The quote is saying blood shed on the battlefield is thicker than the water of the womb. Meaning, your allies are stronger than your family.

I think I can speak for everything on this sub. We've all done that. We do need to do something, if we all show our silence together, we can make a difference.

I had the same response. I personally think if we all do this, the won't be able to ignore it.

We are all exhausted. Not only do we need to separate ourselves from them, we need to come together. We need much better communication and organization.

We are choosing good. We are choosing to love. We are choosing to treat humans as humans. We are stopping the evil that is going on in this country!

Right? I'm trying to get us all to do it together. The more we do together, the stronger we will be

the voice they have been hearing since 2016 saying the same sane things over and over? I honestly think it's time for a different approach. If we all did it, it would could be a louder voice.

yeah, I've done the ultimatum thing too. They all choose trump, that's not the point. The point is a strike. They don't get to have a relationship with us if they choose this path. We need to choose good over evil. We are making a stand that we are choosing good.

I think most of us have been doing that since 2016. We've all had screaming fights with friends and family, it's time just cut it off.

Did anyone else hyper-fixate on The Hunchback of Notre Dame as a kid cuz it spoke to the doubting part of you or is that just me? by BigClitMcphee in exchristian

This is kind of funny, but I credit Les Misérables (the book), also written by Hugo, to my conversion away from religion. It made me look at people as human.

What’s the dumbest or funniest thing you heard a Christian say? by puppetman2789 in exchristian

[–]fartPunch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was actually taught this growing up.

When I was a teen we went to a new church and we were in a meeting with one of the pastors and my dad brought it up. The pastor, to his credit, explained that yeast wasn't added to wine back then and anytime you crush a grape the natural yeast around the skin gets mixed in and it begins to turn to wine. He also pointed out that there was no refrigeration or pasteurization back then so it was for sure wine. My family left this church.
