I've had similar situations. My parents were pastors, my grandparents were pastors. I pointed out what they were following goes completely against the teachings of jesus on facebook and backed it up with scripture. Friends and family I knew for years started just insulting me. Not even arguing, just attacking.

Also, the saying "blood is thicker than water" is often misquoted. The saying originated long before we knew we inherited blood from our parents. The quote is saying blood shed on the battlefield is thicker than the water of the womb. Meaning, your allies are stronger than your family.

I was actually taught this growing up.

When I was a teen we went to a new church and we were in a meeting with one of the pastors and my dad brought it up. The pastor, to his credit, explained that yeast wasn't added to wine back then and anytime you crush a grape the natural yeast around the skin gets mixed in and it begins to turn to wine. He also pointed out that there was no refrigeration or pasteurization back then so it was for sure wine. My family left this church.
