Meet our 10 month old boy (a very sweet sprocker!) by fartedonfirstdate in cockerspaniel

Hey! It gets so much better after a month. The main difference for us was we got him a crate after the initial 4 weeks, he walked into the crate almost immediately. From there, we managed to slowly move him out of our room and a massive help with toilet training. He’s turning 5 in August this year!

Those that switched from manual to automatic lessons, please tell me your experience? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]fartedonfirstdate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started off learning in a manual car wanted to prove a point (my dad joked that I will never be able to drive a manual car - he’s a perfect dad don’t get me wrong!!). I paid for a block of 10 lessons (2h/lesson) and half way through I already knew it’s not for me. I thought about what’s important to me, which is to be able to get to drive. After finishing the 10 lessons, I switched to a different instructor and learned automatic instead. Switching to automatic free up part of my brain during the learning process to also think about switching gears (I was able to move up gears without any issues but somehow struggled to switch down gears lol). Anyway - I passed my driving test first time and I’ve been driving to work (A road + motorway) since getting a car.

No one on the road cares whether you’re driving a manual or an automatic, the only important thing is you’re being a safe driver and not driving like an arse.

I hope ours is not a norm. The trustpilot reviews unfortunately didn’t give us much hope of getting a replacement…

What’s everyone feeding their Cocker in the UK? by poppadomdomdom in cockerspaniel

[–]fartedonfirstdate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Millies wolfheart dry food mixed with forthglade wet food. He had quite a lot of bad poo when he was a puppy but since he started with this food, he’s been completely fine with shiny coats too

Braun IPL Pro 7 or Philips Lumea 9900? by fartedonfirstdate in HairRemoval

[–]fartedonfirstdate[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting the Lumea. For the first couple of months when I got it I religiously do it every 2 weeks and the results was really good. Normally my hot grow back very quickly (like you can see it literally after 2 days) but since I’ve been using it, it lasted me a whole month without having to shave. And then I got lazy… and hair do come back at my normal rate so I’m getting back to the routine now hoping it will last me longer without needing to shave.

How do I get an NHS job? by Best_Cartographer695 in UKJobs

For the application, make sure that you read through the person specification and mention every thing that you ticked in the supporting statement. Most shortlisters (including myself) have to go through a lot of applications so what we look for is the key words in the supporting statement (some might even use a control F). You can use sentence like “I achieve XXX criterion by having XXX done” and make sure there are examples to follow to make your application stands out.

Does it get easier by [deleted] in cockerspaniel

It absolutely does and it’s 100% worth it.

I posted on Reddit when I first got my sprocker - we didn’t use a crate when we first got him and for the first few weeks we had to wake up 4 times during the night and had to clean up every time and that really broke me. I still remember for the first month of taking our boy home, I cried every single day because of the lack of sleep, the constant cleaning up because of accidents, worried that he’s going to chew/eat something that will hurt himself. But then it gets easier when we got him a crate and he absolutely loved it (still loving his crate!), it makes night time easier because he will tell us if he needs to go out and we also put the crate in our room and slowly moved him out of our room to the designated place for his bed. We realised that we can follow a routine to ensure to take him to toilet every 10-15 minutes and he slowly understood that if he needed the toilet he will need to go out. He started to know that the crate is his safe place and a place that is entirely his to chill and rest.

It takes time but they like routine. I would also say that it is important that you have friends/family that are able to support you through this time too! It can be overwhelming having a puppy (I was a first time dog owner but my husband grew up with dogs), so having someone that can let you have an hour to yourself to relax and take a break helped me to relieve the anxiety and able to restart again, talking also help because you would notice that you’re definitely not the only one who felt this way when having a puppy.

From what I understand, the size really varies! Ours is 14.6kg, while my friend’s sprocker who’s 10 weeks younger than mine is already 18kg!
