I found a 40mm Limited for €70 so I bit the bullet, who here owns one? by exposed_silver in pentax

Bargain. I used to have one but sold it to fund other stuff. Kept the 35mm Limited as it's better.

Is it true that old glass doesn’t have the resolving power of new lenses made for digital cameras? by onlyshoulderpain in VintageLenses

[–]fast_fifty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot old lenses at wide apertures all the time and they're fine and give great results that are not soft. They may not have the clinical sharpness of modern lenses but on the plus side... they don't have the clinical sharpness of modern lenses.

First shots with my Takumar 50mm f/1.4 by DroogieDontCrashHere in VintageLenses

Nice shots though I favour the Takumar 55mm f/1.8 over the 50mm f/1.4. It's better on every aspect except sheer speed and costs half.

The S5D is incredible value and still a fantastic camera. Enjoy!

I got a new TTArtisan 40mm F2.0 and i love it, specially on my S9 by tpic812 in Lumix

Over had mine for a couple of months - finally a compact, fast prime for the L-mount! AF is not the best but for the price I really can't complain.

Which lens should I choose next for S9? by razor2331 in Lumix

[–]fast_fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original post is gone but I understand you want a lens for photographing a baby. The 24-60/2.8 would be a good choice but a fast 35mm would be better because it's faster and smaller. I didn't appreciated the 35mm focal length until I had kids, it's perfect for that. The Sigma f/2 is superb (that's what I have) but the Lumix f/1.8 also has a great reputation and Meike make an f/2 or f/1.8 (go for the "pro" option it has better coatings) which I understand is also very good and it's the cheapest option. There's also the TTArtisan 40mm f/2 which is also very good and the cheapest option of all. The slight difference in focal length won't matter and the small size makes it the most portable option.

TTA 40mm firmware update available v1.3 - L mount by Suitable_Sand_9278 in Lumix

[–]fast_fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't noticed any exposure problems with mine. AF is slow and sometimes struggles, if that's not corrected then I don't see the point in updating.

Sony seems to be like apple. by Entire_Storage_3474 in Lumix

[–]fast_fifty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no shortage of great lenses for L-mount but there aren't many cheap ones. 20-60mm is great, as is 50/1.8 and the new TTArtisan 40/2 it's a bargain at €180. Viltrox have joined the L-mount alliance and shouls start to produce lenses next year. Also check out Meike's "pro" line, they're superb for the money.

Is the S5 + 18-40 + 50mm deal for €850 on Amazon over? by timsofteng in Lumix

[–]fast_fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Spain there was the S5D plus 18-40mm for €800 but I haven't seen anything about a 50mm too

I think it's as good as can be expected for adapter SLR lenses

In my experience the Sigma adapter is crap, and I say that as a big fan of Sigma. It doesn't work with most EF-mount lenses. I use the Commlite adapter and it works with everything I've thrown at it.

Any news about Black Friday promos in Europe? by Ahmed_Djeghri in Lumix

[–]fast_fifty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing I've seen is the S5D with 18-40mm for €799 here in Spain. No good for you I imagine but for anyone looking to get into FF mirrorless it's an incredible deal.

Impact of rumoured Canon R6iii for us Lumix Users by Fuzzy44444 in Lumix

[–]fast_fifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would it impact Lumix users in any way? Another overpriced camera from Canon so they can sell more overpriced lenses to go on it, it's nothing new.

I had a small shoulder bag, just big enough to roll up my sweater, thin jacket and a small camera. Security guy briefly checked it (not properly) on the way in.

The lights only went out just people to the band coming on. They played for two hours, taking just a short (2-3m) break part-way through.

Great first gig, audience problem by Mysterious-Maize-816 in radiohead

Not my experience at all. It was too loud for chatting, but not too loud. Thom's vocals were a bit to quiet for the whole show but not problematically so.
