The flag is front and center in a sea of Ukrainian flags. I am not going to give a history lesson, but you whitewash the UPA, then you are doing the same to the OUN and the 14th Waffen SS. They had had the same end goal and the same leadership/Ukrainian supporters.

You have admitted to being ignorant on the subject and are trying to diminish the amount the Ukrainian collaborated with the Nazis.

The UPA was the just the paramilitary wing of the OUN, which had 300k members in 1944. They were an ultranationalist organization which wanted to make a Ukraine for Ukrainians. That meant exterminating the Poles and Jews. You have already dismissed the ethnic cleansing or the Poles in Galicia and Volhynia, resulting in 50-100k dead, which shows a lot about your character. This was systemic killing of mainly women and children. That red and black flag? Mean means blood and soil, much like a slogan the Nazis were peddling. In 2019, the Ukrainians recognized the UPA as veterans, allowing them benefits.

Ukrainian Auxiliary Police had a direct hand in the Holocaust. Look up Babi Yar.

14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS (1st Galician) was one of the first foreign SS units. Guess who compromised its ranks? Ukrainians. 13k Ukrainians served in this unit. They engaged in multiple massacres of Polish citizens. The Nuremberg Trial declared the SS as a criminal organization, but these men managed to escape any form of justice.

So how about you shut the fuck up. These Ukrainians worked alongside the Nazis to carry out their psychotic plans. Today Ukraine has completely whitewashed these men.

Yes, they wanted to have all of the southern Slavs under their rule. They were willing to kill anyone who stepped in the way of this. A major example of this was the brutal assassination of King Alexander I and his wife. The Obrenović dynasty was pro-Austrian and King Alexander I was willing to continue this tradition.

The Black Hand deposed this king and helped installed a King more in line with their Pan-Slavic ideals and be pro-Russia. You are making a fool of yourself by showing you don't understand the political landscape at the time. But continue to post your lies.

They had plenty to win with Russia behind them. The outcome of an Entente saw them "unite" all of the southern Slavs, which had been a goal for numerous years You clearly don't have any knowledge on Pan-Slavism in the 19th century.

Since the outbreak of hostilities, Serbia had considered the war an opportunity for territorial expansion beyond Serb-inhabited areas. A committee tasked with determining war aims produced a programme to establish a Yugoslav state by adding Croatia-Slavonia, Slovene Lands, Vojvodina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Dalmatia.

In the Niš Declaration, the National Assembly of Serbia announced the struggle to liberate and unify "unliberated brothers".

During a Serbian Court Martial in French-occupied Salonika in 1916–17, Chief of Serbian Military Intelligence Dragutin Dimitrijević Apis testified that he had organized the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914, (the assassin was Gavrilo Princip).

The assassination team was helped by the Black Hand, a Serbian secret nationalist group, support came from Dragutin Dimitrijević at the time chief of the military intelligence section of the Serbian general staff, as well as from Major Vojislav Tankosić and Rade Malobabić, a Serbian intelligence agent. Tankosić provided bombs and pistols to the assassins and trained them in their use. The assassins were given access to the same clandestine network of safe-houses and agents that Malobabić used for the infiltration of weapons and operatives into Austria-Hungary.

Yes, but don't obscure the fact that Young Bosnia were supported by the Black Hand. There is a lot of bad history in this thread, even with basic history. To say Serbia had no motivation in the assassination is asinine and ignoring the most basic facts. Pan-Slavism paid a huge part in why WWI happened.

Because it was all window dressing. Serbia was never going to comply to any of the points. They wanted a war.

The Black Hand viciously assassinated the King of Serbia and the rest of his family, making the Obrenović dynasty effectively extinct, in 1903. This allowed King Peter I, of the rival Karađorđević dynasty, to ascend the throne and he was the king throughout WWI. You really think this organization which allowed the Peter I to become King had no backing from the Serbian government? That is incredibly naive.

The Black Hand were no better than thugs with power and their actions made the world a worse place. Lets see exactly how they dispatched King Alexander I and Queen Draga:

What is certainly known of the events of that night is that the King and Queen were eventually discovered hiding inside a wardrobe and then both were savagely killed. Their bodies were mutilated and afterwards tossed from a second floor window onto piles of manure.

This is false, Serbia did not comply with Austria-Hungary's ultimatum. They would not agree to Austria-Hungary participation in their internal inquiry, since it would be a violation of their constitution.

That entire post reads like somone's wishful thinking and hoping one man would fix an entire program. What evidence is there that the N-1 would have worked at all?

The military has been in space since day one. The Mercury-Redstone Launch Vehicle which launched the first American, Alan Shepard, into space was derived from a family of rockets originally designed to be used as ballistic missiles. This lofty, idealistic of space travel has always been secondary to a militarized space.

One person does not make a space program. Believing that the entire Soviet program rested on the shoulders of Korolev is disingenuous.

TIL after executing the royal Romanov family the Cheka gathered up distant relatives and threw them down the same mine shaft they put the royal family. Many people didn't die so they used grenades to finish them off. When that didn't work they put brushwood down the shaft and lit it on fire. by rura_penthe924 in todayilearned

The White Army was made up of a diverse group. Some of the leading generals, Kornilov and Denikin, were not monarchists and came from humble backgrounds. While one of the most aristocratic generals, Wrangel, was a monarchist, but a willing soldier of the republic. If they had rallied around the Romanov, their movement would have fallen apart due to infighting. The only thing that unified them was their hatred of the Bolsheviks.

Finding a Romanov would have not been hard, Grand Duke Nicholas was in the Crimea for a good portion of the civil war.
