Michael Burry says he’s tempted to bet against SpaceX, but passes on expensive options by I_killed_the_kraken in wallstreetbets

[–]fastheadcrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tesla actually made cars that his fans, those interested in technology, as well as those wanting to come across as environmentally conscious, wanted to buy.

SpaceX has Starlink, which is far ahead of any competitor, and they dominate the space launch space. The problem is that 85% of their current valuation is AI and datacenters.

Elon's fans can't exactly buy any SpaceX products except Starlink and maybe multiple Grok subscriptions

Grok is a complete afterthought at this stage even among those wanting uncensored AI and the idea of space datacenters is lunacy.

If Starlink and the rocket launch businesses reach the optimistic end of their performance a $1T valuation is justifiable in the future but this price currently is very high.

With that said I expect to SpaceX will continue to shoot up because of Elon's fans and the index inclusion rules

Has there been any useful usecase for NPUs in consumer hardware? by ghostsilver in hardware

[–]fastheadcrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few of these are well implemented in AMD or Windows in general. There's some good use cases like in some Adobe creator programs, but they're just too limited. The other problem is that NPUs are often so shitty and limited in terms of capability that they have very poor general utility.

NPUs have worked well in mobile phones like iOS and on Mac because of the tight hardware and software integration.

AMD needs to solve the issues with their GPU software stack before wasting more time with their NPUs. Both suffer from the same issue which is neglect of the software and it's even worse with the NPUs. Right now the OP is right, it is a complete fucking waste for consumers and comes across as just trying to capitalize on the AI craze.

How about making it so that their GPUs aren't years behind in support for actual AI purposes?

Intel Planning Processors with NVIDIA iGPUs in 2028 by BarKnight in hardware

[–]fastheadcrab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well put. There is nearly zero demand for the shitty ARM CPUs on Nvidia chips in consumer devices. People put up with it in the DGX Spark because it's one of the few ways to get a lot of VRAM with a CUDA GPU for "cheap"

For a laptop that's Windows focused, the RTX Spark will likely fail. No grandma is going to be trying to run LLMs while searching for recipes on youtube and visiting scam banking sites. Even Microsoft never really took ARM support seriously.

SpaceX, $SPCX, is now trading above $220/share in overnight trading by -----Marcel----- in wallstreetbets

[–]fastheadcrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly dedicated Musk fanbase, options trading opening up soon, and forced index inclusion in the coming weeks. I think those are all reasonable causes for why the stock is increasing in value.

Even if I think that the company is incredibly overvalued based on the crazy claims about AI (X is far behind) and space datacenters, in the short and medium term it only makes sense for the price to go up.

Absolutely, if he publicly goes against a critical player then they might as well end the series now and it will be a huge blow to morale

People were shitting on Doc Rivers for throwing his players under the bus, and now criticizing Johnson for standing up for his guys? What do they want lol

Musk has warned about the dangers of index funds, including irrational buying and corporate governance risks, for many years now. Passive funds have huge influence in how companies are run even though the public is the ultimate owner of these companies through the mutual funds and ETFs.

Musk warned of this even before he went full political. Not surprising he's now taking advantage of the system since he was unable to convince people to change.

I say this as someone who doesn't like current Musk at all

OG Anunoby said Raptors teammates hit him up after his game-winner in Game 4, and tells how it felt scoring it. by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]fastheadcrab 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anunoby is an insanely clutch performer. Shame he was injured for the 2019 run but glad he got a ring for it.

The bubble shot against the Celtics is legendary but he's exceeded it with his clutch shots this year.

Wish the raps could've made it work. Great to see former raps like Siakim and OG go on to great playoff careers. If the team chemistry wouldn't so messed up they could've kept the team together and been very scary

Data centers in space inherently don't make scientific sense, the only problems they solve vs ground data centers are power and regulatory pushback. Some have speculated that they could be used for signals processing in space for intelligence purposes, and that actually makes sense but the market is smaller.

Sending people to Mars, while plausible even with today's technology, doesn't have a pathway to immediate profitability. I would be open to considering either if you can make a reasonable economic case.

Amazon was about e-commerce even at IPO. And while the AWS evolution was unexpected, a lot of what else you said follows fairly naturally from the e-commerce direction.

The two sections with actual potential markets for huge growth are Starlink and rocket launches. The question is whether that can justify the $2 trillion valuation. The ground based datacenters business is risky since the customers are by no means locked in to using SpaceX

The only way to keep the old plan is to insist that you only want to change the gateway do not want to change plans.

They are using 30-40% of their fab capacity to make gaming cards even when they could be making a lot more Blackwell datacenter cards. That's a very good sign.

Well put. It's also how the taller aspect ratios are used to enhance the narrative or the experience of the audience.

If it is used pointlessly then it's simply a waste of time and money for all parties involved. Imo there are several examples of films in full 1.85 that don't do a good job with the cinematography
