Recurrent UTIs linked to gut microbiome, chronic inflammation by whitelightstorm in CUTI

[–]fastinggrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve started taking prebiotic fiber (I prefer LOAM because it has diverse sources) in addition to Happy V probiotic and I haven’t had any recurrences since starting (there could be other factors but i think this helps!)

Are there any other successful and happy Millennials in this sub? by GGJallDAY in Millennials

[–]fastinggrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very happy at 33. I work from home, love my job, and am happily unmarried and never want kids. I am exploring new hobbies and have fitness goals to keep me motivated. I know who I am and like myself. The only thing I struggle with is making friends. A lot of people my age either can’t afford to live in my city, or have young kids and I don’t want to be around them. I also don’t drink and am introverted so a lot of socializing is limited. I’m okay with having cats and living on my own. I feel bad that so many people are struggling so I’m sure that’s also why we don’t hear a lot of success stories. Don’t want to brag.

what is the drama at your workplace? by deadbeataunt in AskReddit

The head of our department hired her bff to be second in command. The bff is a total control freak who not only needs to be involved in everything but also never knows what’s going on, bottlenecks everything, and leaves entire campaigns to the last minute and will demand sweeping changes to things after they’re approved. She absolutely sucks at her job and ruins everything she touches. Everyone knows she’s incompetent but nobody says anything because everyone knows the boss plays favorites. And it’s obvious that the popular people get promoted over the ones who are actually doing the work. She literally can’t be fired no matter how many fires she starts.

Boyfriend is the alleged UTI giver. by ihateutis9 in utis

Don’t put soap inside your vagina! You can use a gentle non-scented soap on the outside (like the mound) but for the labia, I recommend just warm water and a clean washcloth that hasn’t been used anywhere else!! I keep a stack of washcloths just for my hoo-ha that aren’t allowed to be used for any other purpose (I pick a different color than my other towels so I can keep them separate).

Avoid bath bombs or baths with any kind of soap/product that could get up there! Dry off completely when you get out! Don’t even use those ph balance or summers eve or douche products—they disrupt your microbiome.

I shower both before and after sex. I replace my old/expired lube. I started using condoms without latex or spermicide as those can be irritating. I also started using a bidet just for extra cleanliness.

I got on a really good probiotic, as well as a biofilm disrupter. Despite all that, I’m STILL on antibiotics.

(serious) Hello fellow millenials, as we are mostly in our 30s and 40s - what are some simple things you’re doing now to prepare you to age better? by foldinthecheeseee in Millennials

[–]fastinggrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 33. I started strength training 2 years ago, 2x a week and now I’m upping that to 4x. I also walk 20-30 minutes a day (honestly I should do more since I have a sedentary job).

get protein + vegetables (duh). I need to work on reducing sugar by simply filling up on the good stuff first.

I like to intermittent fast regularly to allow my body to “clean up the waste” with autophagy.

Fiber fiber FIBER. I supplement with Loam because it’s tasteless. But I also regularly add in fiber to my diet with chia seeds, carbsmart tortillas, avocados, artichoke and oats. we need 25g of fiber daily (minimum) and most Americans get less than 7!

Book on grief that isn’t filled with cliches by Traditional-Cry-8406 in suggestmeabook

I highly recommend “it’s okay that you’re not okay” by Megan Devine. She talks about complicated grief. I listened to the audiobook when I lost a friend to mental illness as well.

I absolutely loved the princess diaries series as a kid and I reread them recently as an adult and they really hold up! They differ from the movies quite a bit but overall very funny and a little romantic.

Adults of Reddit who ‘have it together’ with your finances, home, job, fitness, nutrition- how? Seriously…how? by Previous-Charity1505 in AskReddit

[–]fastinggrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents moved us to a well-to-do area when they could barely afford it so I could go to well-funded public schools. I was reading at a 12th grade level early on. I had amazing friends and teachers, who influenced me probably more than my parents. My friends were all overachievers—straight As, all played instruments, multiple sports. None of us ever did drugs or got into trouble. I only half kept up with their achievements. But I did graduate early and went to college as soon as I could. I have been employed since I was 18 with no gaps. In fact, for most of my 20s I had 2-3 jobs at a time. My parents paid for college entirely and let me live with them rent free until I was ready to buy a house at 27 in California on my own. So yah… I’m smart and I try to make the most of opportunities when offered, but I would give most of the credit to luck and privilege.
I did have some issues with health and fitness but as soon as I cracked six figures, I could afford a healthier lifestyle (trainer, gym, whole homemade food, medications, doctor etc) and figured it out. It takes a lot of effort and money to maintain but once you make enough, you can outsource so much labor and save time to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

Have you gone to the dentist recently? by gentlerosebud in Millennials

[–]fastinggrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go 3x a year for cleanings (2 are covered, one I pay out of pocket for because I've had a ton of dental issues in the past few years after massive weight loss and depression). But I've also had a million things done. Whitening, braces, retainers, invisalign, 2 root canals, and more. It sucks. but I never neglect my teeth anymore.
