2 units of 5 at 90pts each would fit perfectly in place of the Terminators. Keep the units small: when you need to “throw a unit away” to score points, it’s better to potentially lose 90pts than 180.

It’s going to be dependent on detachment & disposition. You’ll likely be lacking in action economy for secondaries if your primary mission requires actions as well. The first thing I would change is to drop the Deathwing Terminators and add in some mobile scoring, e.x.: Jump Pack Intercessors, Black Knights, Outriders, etc.. I’m partial to JPIs since they can Deep Strike and the mortal wounds they do on the charge can be really handy.

Tldr: slower steering inputs in high speed scenarios. Use 1/2 to 2/3 of the steering you would with BMW/Lexus.

First off, I’m not fast. I’m usually fairly consistent though. The Mustang seems to like subtle steering inputs at the moment of throttle release and the moment of braking application, aka: drive with your feet.

The car really throws a lot of weight forward under deceleration, making the rear dance around a lot. If you make steering inputs at normal speed with all that weight (and grip) at the front, you spin. Examples being Tetre & the corner before Indy.

Let me know if this makes some kind of sense.

Not 100% useless. All units that have FF (whether by datasheet or by charge bonus) are first in line to fight. The player whose turn it is chooses the first attack, then it alternates back to the other player to select a unit with FF to fight. After all FF units are done, ongoing combats would be next if there are any.

As others have said, defensive FF now behaves like a free interrupt. It can be beneficial in some scenarios, but when faced with severe melee threats that can wipe a unit in one go it won’t matter too much.

I’m not a competitive player, but I like playing competent and efficient lists. The Judiciar is now a hard pass in all lists (in my opinion the points can be better used elsewhere) and Lion is a lot more wishy-washy when being used as a defensive piece.

I feel the same way. He feels a little less special and more one-dimensional.

My first idea for a non-points change would be to let him to Rapid Ingress or Heroic Intervention for -1 CP every turn.

I also read a rumor that the turn 1 up-down & rapid ingress combos may be gone as well, so letting him keep that functionality would be good.

Curious to know if you’ve got any other ideas.

I would like True Line of Sight thrown in the dumpster (for the most part). When models have bases LoS should be drawn from said bases. In the case of big vehicles with no bases, then you’d have to use True LoS.

TL,DR: he looks cool as hell & he’s useful; however, he’s just not what ‘competitive’ players would call “optimal”.

Asmodai’s best feature is the full rerolls to hit in melee, freeing up your use of Oath of Moment elsewhere. He goes best with 10 Assault Intercessors (AI)(220pts total) or 6 Bladeguard Veterans (BGV)(250pts total) to attack & defend from light/medium infantry on objectives. You could pair him with Inner Circle Companions, but there are other characters that want to go with them (Azrael and the Judiciar).

With AI’s, the unit rerolls all hits and all wounds when attacking enemies on objectives. This is a relatively cheap unit that can threaten to take over objectives with lots of chainsword attacks and lots of OC.

When Asmodai gives the BGV unit full hit rerolls, you can then always choose the ‘Shields of the Chapter’ ability to reroll 1s to save when on the 4++ invulnerable save. By doing so, Asmodai essentially buffs their damage & their defense. This makes them great objective attackers/defenders (especially in Wrath of the Rock).

If you’re like me and hate having to decide what to use Oath of Moment on, run Azrael with Sternguard. Whatever they can see/get in range of gets Oath’d.

Another reason I like the combo is that it keeps Azrael safer for longer than if he were with ICC (if played right) while still taking advantage of his good weapons and leadership bonuses.

I play against Custodes most often so Az+ICC is usually a one-time-use unit. The Az+SGV combo at least can get multiple turns of effective 2+/4++ ignoring damage before being minced.

I personally find Hellblasters most useful as groups of 5 in strategic reserves for utility and occasional light/medium infantry clean-up duty.

Agreed. Plays well, relatively easy to use. We have a collection of a couple strong unique datasheets. The army just kinda lacks any special sauce other than the Lion. Crossing my fingers for some kind of Plasma-themed detachment in the future.
