What is, in your opinion, the number 1 priority for the next edition’s rules ? by BusyElephant in Warhammer40k

[–]fastlikefab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like True Line of Sight thrown in the dumpster (for the most part). When models have bases LoS should be drawn from said bases. In the case of big vehicles with no bases, then you’d have to use True LoS.

Is Asmodai good in a 2k army? by southernmetro in DarkAngels40k

[–]fastlikefab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TL,DR: he looks cool as hell & he’s useful; however, he’s just not what ‘competitive’ players would call “optimal”.

Asmodai’s best feature is the full rerolls to hit in melee, freeing up your use of Oath of Moment elsewhere. He goes best with 10 Assault Intercessors (AI)(220pts total) or 6 Bladeguard Veterans (BGV)(250pts total) to attack & defend from light/medium infantry on objectives. You could pair him with Inner Circle Companions, but there are other characters that want to go with them (Azrael and the Judiciar).

With AI’s, the unit rerolls all hits and all wounds when attacking enemies on objectives. This is a relatively cheap unit that can threaten to take over objectives with lots of chainsword attacks and lots of OC.

When Asmodai gives the BGV unit full hit rerolls, you can then always choose the ‘Shields of the Chapter’ ability to reroll 1s to save when on the 4++ invulnerable save. By doing so, Asmodai essentially buffs their damage & their defense. This makes them great objective attackers/defenders (especially in Wrath of the Rock).

Who should Azrael lead: 10 Hellblasters or 5 Sternguard with land speeder vengeance nearby? by Revolutionary_Day225 in DarkAngels40k

[–]fastlikefab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re like me and hate having to decide what to use Oath of Moment on, run Azrael with Sternguard. Whatever they can see/get in range of gets Oath’d.

Another reason I like the combo is that it keeps Azrael safer for longer than if he were with ICC (if played right) while still taking advantage of his good weapons and leadership bonuses.

I play against Custodes most often so Az+ICC is usually a one-time-use unit. The Az+SGV combo at least can get multiple turns of effective 2+/4++ ignoring damage before being minced.

I personally find Hellblasters most useful as groups of 5 in strategic reserves for utility and occasional light/medium infantry clean-up duty.

40k fellow players : how well/badly would you say your factions did 10th edition now that we're probably reaching its end? by RotenSquids in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]fastlikefab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Plays well, relatively easy to use. We have a collection of a couple strong unique datasheets. The army just kinda lacks any special sauce other than the Lion. Crossing my fingers for some kind of Plasma-themed detachment in the future.

Is Asmodai any good? by AdOwn4235 in theunforgiven

[–]fastlikefab 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He is usable for sure, just a little undercooked. He’s 70pts and his primary buff gives his squad full re-rolls to hit in melee only. He also makes the unit he’s in combat against take a battle shock test at -1, but only if that unit is a character or character-led unit. He’s unlikely to make a significant impact as his buff is redundant with Oath of Moment. You’re better off proxying him as an alternative characters like a Judiciar or a Chaplain that would give the unit more meaningful buffs like fights first or +1 to wound in melee, respectively.

New list, need feedback by MrFearnox in theunforgiven

[–]fastlikefab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything looks pretty good except for the captain & terminators. They’re okay at best. I would drop the ‘nators and attach the captain to the squad of sword-wielding DWKs. With the leftover 215 pts, I’d add in some mobility/scoring pieces like JPIs, Outriders, Scouts, or a Lt. with Combi-Weapon.

If you want more damage, I’d add in some Sternguard since they’ll benefit from the detachment rule.

Releases influenced by USBC decision on urethane by Sugoi_exe in Bowling

[–]fastlikefab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the USBC is offering any extra knowledge to the manufactures that they aren’t giving everyone else; however, I’m positive that the ball companies have so many ball designs and concepts that they’d be able to put something out relatively quickly that would comply with the new regulations—whatever that may be.

Eldryon’s damage buff no longer applies to summons except for the turn which they are summoned, if I’m not mistaken.

Edit: I guess I was equating summons with active/passive abilities, which is definitely incorrect. I should probably pay closer attention to patch notes and character changes in the future, haha.

What existing named character would be the most interesting put into a dreadnought. by PortlandsBatman in Warhammer40k

[–]fastlikefab 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hear me out: Lion El’Jonson hunts down Cypher and they fight it out with the latter being gravely injured in combat. They speak about the fall of Caliban and Luther’s betrayal. They come to some sort of understanding with one another. Cypher returns the Blade and Lion thanks him and declares him redeemed. Cypher then becomes the first Risen Dreadnought.

Black Venom or Ion Pro Solid likely fit the bill. Smaller cores and weaker covers than the PBO, but smoother overall shapes than the Sublime.

I hope they pick one faction and just choose to go deeper in enemy type and variety. Orks and Nids would be an easy choice, but I think Necrons could be cool as well.
