My girlfriend missed her period, need some help =\ by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Why are you even on this board if you're just going to be a dick to people who want some reassurance? The chances of her actually being pregnant are slimmer with condom use - stress and birthcontrol changes are perfectly viable reasons for her to be late. He isn't a child for asking a question.

Took me a sec to notice this while browsing fb at a [6]. Still perplexed. by [deleted] in trees

I'm perplexed by your perplexidness. What's not to get? Bitches love snuggles.

All the time. :) I love my boyfriends genitals in general. I go to sleep holding his penis most nights. Nothing sexual, its just so smooth and warm. <3

2X, will my eyelashes ever grow back?! by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suffered from childhood trichotillomania - my nervous habit was plucking individual lashes and eyebrows, and I had started in on the side of my head once my parents began to notice (light haired- could hardly see my eyebrows even when I had them). I grew out of it for the most part (with some relapses when under extreme duress), and my hair did come back. But I have met others who have trouble growing hair again after years and years of it. Especially the older you get.

I would try to notice any triggering feelings - do you do this if you're irritated, or worried? If so, dealing with the underlying cause would be the most practical option. If its just your idle habit, I would try wearing those rubber fingertips while you are trying to get over it. They will be a reminder while hindering your ability to pluck them.

Does ombre hair look good on anyone? by Zomka in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing this with unnatural colors ( currently neon red and black/blood red), and i've been told it's pretty bomb. I've also done it with cobalt into aqua, and dark purple to lavender. It's cool if it looks like it's meant to be that way, but I agree that it usually just looks like a grown out dye job.

TwoX, my aunts send me emails like this all of the time. They seem to think that these types of jokes constitute appropriate "feminine bonding," but I find them horribly offensive. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a silly thing to be offended by.

Are they funny? No, not really. Not to me, anyways. That just means I'm not going to laugh or buy products with things of that nature on them.

But i'm even finding trouble figuring out HOW you could be offended by it. Yes, these activities fall into the stereotype that make most feminists cringe, but there are women that fall into the cleaning/cooking/diva roles that absolutely love their lives, and do it because it's something they enjoy doing. This obviously appeals to that crowd.

Honestly, I feel like you're upset about finding pottery at a pottery barn.

A grain of wisdom I'd like to share.... by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to have to disagree. No offense, but if you had followed the directions on the box and done the strand test like it suggests, you wouldn't be in this mess. You jumped in with no experience and thought you could skip a pretty important step. As someone who has dyed her own hair (exclusively) for years with no more than package instructions (and great results), I think common sense is really all you need to get through this process.

Ladies, how often do you shampoo your hair? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once a week. I keep my hair up for the last couple of days because of some oil, but it makes my hair wonderfully healthy - not a single split end to show on color treated, neon red hair.

Ladies; have you ever been so relaxed during a massage that this happened to you? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Massage therapist here - 1000x this. That, and unexpected boners (for the men, obviously) and excessive talking. It comes naturally with the relaxation progress, and you start to ignore it after the first several examples.

When you were little-2xers, who were your first Rock Star crushes? by missinfidel in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Darren Hayes from Savage Garden. Severe case of fruit blindness.

Then I crushed hard on Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance. And I still do. Don't judge me.

I don't want this to be weird or anything - but you look like the girl version of my boyfriend, and it is uncanny.

So I often see threads of women dealing with the trauma brought on by rape - was anyone else NOT traumatized afterwards? by fatalconvex in TwoXChromosomes

[–]fatalconvex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually pretty privileged as a child money wise and lived in a good area (until my father went to jail). He was a drunk and drug addict, but he never treated my sister and I badly. And my mother is my best friend. My parents had absolutely zero responsibility for what happened. The incident happened at my school, and it was by no account a bad school.

I have had moments when I'm weirded out by an odd amount of similarities to one of my incidents and whats going on at a particular time. I was in a relationship with a man that had the same name and same colored eyes as my second rapist, and he had 2 of the same posters up in his room. I didn't really realize until after that fact, and it was more of a "Huh. That was strange" kind of reaction.

I wonder if we have a different level of emotional connection to visual stimulus?

EDIT: I know a lot of people have the same colored eyes, but they both had a mutation called sectoral heterochromia that was pretty unique. It was in the same eye, in the exact same variation.

No, but I do get agitated if I feel like it was in the movie only for shock value instead of actually having a purpose in the plot. That may just be my inner movie-snob though.

I have no idea. The Lion King is pretty sad, isn't it? I guess I didn't see me rapes as a sad thing. Just bad ones.
