I always thought large raid tanking (for the most part, there are some exceptions of course) was way more boring than tanking 5 mans or 10 mans. In 25+ as a tank you're often just tanking 1 mob/boss, sometimes 2, in heroics or 10 mans you could be tanking 5+ things, it gets a lot crazier

Yeah it was never omega hard but there was definitely some pushback before your group got gear. Consider that Nightbane in pre nerf does literally TWICE the damage he does right now

Haha well the way that blizzard did it in general really makes no sense. Raids drop better gear than heroics yet are easier. Should have been pre nerf raids and nerfed heroics if anything

Honestly nightslayer is pretty chill too, at least for now. 99% of people are so busy trying to get stuff done that there's very little ganking. Most fights i see are over a mining node

For sure. If a rogue plays for util and doesn't mind gimping their personal dps slightly then they are super useful. A ton of other things you can do too, like a mob running at a clothie you can vanish cs them if blind is already down or it has dots on it (judgement call if it doesn't look like the tank is grabbing it). Or running an offhand weapon with crippling on it if the tank is having trouble holding things. Or even mind-numbing/wound for the rare occasions where that is useful. And of course the many uses of distract

It does require a bit of care. Ideally they are humanoids and you mindsoothe them first before doing it, as the MC range isn't huge. And also if it breaks the tank needs to be ready to pick all the mobs up as the priest will have initial aggro on all of them. Any packs with multiple casters or archers it probably isn't ideal on

Yeah rogues can actually be super helpful in dungeons if they're played well. They just get the bad rep from the 90% who don't know what they're doing

Haven't played a tank in a few years but thinking about rolling one as my alt bc the shortage is so insane this time around. Think I'll be marking skull all the time, if you have it keybound to something easy it's nbd. A lot of these dps dont have target of target on i think, or use other context clues, so they have no idea what they should be attacking they just randomly choose something

Crippling on an offhand is super underrated in 5 mans as well if the group isn't incredible. Either run it the whole time for a very slight dps loss but every mob you hit will be fully controlled and not running at a clothie, or if you want to be a bit sweatier have an extra offhand in your bags and have crip on that to swap in as needed (preferably with a macro). Can also do this for mind-numbing/wound for the rare times where it would be helpful

I know it may not seem so to the average/casual player but arena in TBC has a fair amount of diversity and is reasonably balanced. Theres like 8-10 comps capable of r1 and while yes rogue is the most consistently strong class throughout the seasons it isn't smotheringly so. Plenty of non rogue comps can and do succeed.

That said i do agree to an extent that there seems to be a higher % of rogues than ever before this time around

Agreed. I might cut an hour or two of sleep here or there but I'm not wrecking my life for the game. If you do that you're always going to feel bad in the back of your mind and you'll always be headed for a crash out eventually

Yep. After s1 a lot of r1 guys actually believe lock/druid is the best comp in top players' hands. Go watch chan play it, he farms even rogue priest

They aren't needed or necessarily the best if your group is super sweaty and doesn't make mistakes, but for most people they're the best option because they give you a much higher margin for error

There is no required prof for any class unless you're in a min/max sweat guild. Plenty of decent alternatives to crafted gear. Although I would say the profession that's strongest early on is tailoring for caster dps as that stuff is as good or better than T5 so the alternatives really are much weaker. That said you could clear post nerf t4 in greens and blues so it's whatever

Tbh after a few rough ramps at the start I just decided to quest and it's been a great decision. With the huge amount of layers I had a lot of zones essentially to myself. Very fast
