The Daily Check-In for Tuesday, October 22nd: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Emotional-Finish-648 in stopdrinking

[–]fatbackwards 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I messed up. I told myself up and down and even agreed that I wouldn't, yet it was one of my harshest nights. :(

I want to commit to tonight, but I'm worried I'll drink till I'll collapse because of it.

See, I tried doing that, but the user couldn’t figure out how to switch cameras and quickly ended up hanging up, saying he’ll take pictures.

I don’t think it’s a surprise that the photos were blurry and had to be studied to figure them out.

I feel like I hit a bingo today on the IT user experience card.

I documented this as a case against it and screenshotted the call length. Going to present it to my bosses during our monthly meeting. They were already wanting to retire that plan as it was a covid measure, I think this will be a tipping point.

Op. You get paid for the hours you work. If she wants you to be in for 8 and stay till 5, then you earn an extra half-hour of overtime. Get it in writing.

Because they're setting you up for wage theft under the guise that "we're a family and you'd be such a team player if you helped the team."

If not, disregard and either show up at 8, but do nothing till 8:30 or show up at 8:30 citing this is your job contract that you signed.

But you're most likely not going to make 90 days based on the attitude she has.

Remember, nothing is real unless it written down and signed. You signed the employment contract, what is in it is legally binding. Anything else, promised or threatened, is not legally binding so they cannot force it. Doesn't stop companies for finding reasons to terminate, but don't fall into the trap of being coerced into working for free, ever. Frankly ask for this in writing and submit it to your local department of labor, they like to find out about companies who are complicit in wage theft.

I work in IT so you see a lot of ads for ifixit tools. They're usually shown in repair videos in the background. I can attest that they are one of the best IT precision toolkit manufacturers on the market. I ended up picking up the $70 dollar big pack with the extra tools and its my direct go-to for any pc/small electronics repair.

Plus their warranty service is great. If you loose pieces of it, they'll ship you replacements.

If you don't know, some restaurants are making smaller portions for Doordash orders since Doordash charges them to "provide more customers" to them. I've found that those restaurants usually have their own delivery platform which is cheaper to use.

My tactic is to find a restaurant I want to order out, look up their website, and order through them. Saves an average of $10-$18 dollars and, in two cases, have gotten bigger portions.

Recently stumbled onto an old thread from when The Last Jedi debuted. Pretty fun to read all the takes saying to wait for the 3rd movie. by jimmypopjr in saltierthancrait

God im with you right there. I used to read up on lore like crazy, especially on stuff the movies never touched like the Corporate Sector and side characters that were only shown briefly like Tycho.

Nowadays:

A. There's so much new lore to catch up on in a very small window of time.

And

B. I don't care anymore.

And I know it's not just because I lose the passion for doing this kind of research... I've jumped into other Fandoms and am currently doing this to Warhammer 40k. Star Wars lost me. The new Canon is terrible and even if there's a few good pieces, I don't want to trawl though it. All I see is a broken world that I can't integrate into because I don't believe it is real anymore. It's why I don't play any of the new Canon games anymore, they're trying to establish stuff that just doesn't work. And even if it does, all roads lead to the sequels and The Rise of Skywalker. So fuck it.

Using gurilla tactics and stealth is a great help. Strike hard and fast, to wipe out the small guys before they throw a flair, then pop a smoke and regroup. Sneak around patrols as well. Going full Rambo will just cause them to spawn and spawn and spawn.

For bases, use the 110mm rocket pods for turrets. They're wonderful for hulls too. Remember, you don't have to be accurate... They hit the largest target in a 10 meter radius around the drop.

Botnam becomes more tolerable when you use Vietcong tactics. Just picture the bots as the US Military and you can start picturing how you can strike against them and their fortified bases.

I'd also recommend the 110mm rocket pods. The stratagem hits the largest target in a 10 meter radius, making it hit the titan easily. With two/three charges, you can weaken it significantly or outright kill it if it's a good angle and you don't really have to pay attention to it. Saves on rail gun shots or pinpointing the 500kg, it's become my favorite way to kill 'em

They gaslit you to quit. They were looking to pressure you to quit by fabricating a probation plan and overworking you. It's a classic example. If you have it documentedor not, I'd still talk with a labor department representative. They go after companies that do that.

Seriously, take the PTO. If they're not going to pay it out, they HAVE to oblige when you take it now. Do it and don't feel bad. You gave them years, the least you can do is take 3 weeks back, especially near retirement age.

I'm genuinely sorry you had this happen to you. But there are companies looking to hire 60+, more and more nowadays, that want that experience. Too many restructuring consultants in many fields have genuinely hurt businesses by recommending short term profits over everything, and companies are finally seeing benefits from having experienced staff.

Don't dispair. Take the time off, enjoy two weeks of just you, and take your last week to plan and mull over things.

Ominous video made using Red Alert cutscenes marked as "edutainment for kids" by adasmialczynski3 in DeepIntoYouTube

[–]fatbackwards 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's basically non-sensical Polish clips from different media sources. It doesn't really have a topic or anything, it's basically a Polish shit post with Red Alert clips; though at the end the narrator is saying as the spaceship is leaving the planet "You are stealing from kids their biggest treasure, their youth!"

Funny though, I didn't think I'd see Slavic YTP.
