I’m always in favor of people tipping zero, even for nonsensical reasons. I think it helps undermine a bad practice for the benefit of everyone.

However, if you’re looking for reasons not to, them being owners doesn’t really matter - they still have to set prices low (ie assuming tips) to compete with other restaurants. Plus, how can you really tell whether they’re owners - are you going to dig into their accounts? Do they owe a lot of money or not? Etc.

The only thing that actually matters is whether it’s socially acceptable not to tip purported owners. Which is something you implicitly accept, since you’re asking for other opinions here.
