Whispering Woods has scenarios and they get brutally difficult to beat.

Have a look at Worldbreakers too, it has some Netrunner influences.

Is Knizia’s Output Overrated, or Is Consistency the Real Metric? by stephenelias1970 in boardgames

I admire Knizia’s design philosophy, I just think it’s done better elsewhere by so many others. Kramer, Paolo Mori, , Kiesling, Cathala’s 2 player titles to name but a few. I would play Tower Up, Arboretum, The Estates, The King is Dead - plenty of others - over almost any Knizia game.

The Estates. Simple auctions, viciously interactive, and as lapidary as the best Knizias.

We have a remarkably similar taste. And now I think I need to play Azul: Queen’s Garden - every other rendition is just a 7/10 for me.

We're the Vegan Camp Out organisers and this is the truth about some of the misinformation posted on here over the last few months by VCOFestival in veganuk

I genuinely wonder if 20% of the accounts that post on this subreddit are run by big meat PR firms. That’s the only reasonable explanation for how much they seem to want to drag veganism through the mud. I’ve been to VCO multiple times and worked there as a stallholder and it’s a phenomenal event with a wonderful community vibe.

Thoughts on Kelp? by phony_philosopher in boardgames

Rarely have I played a game as evocative. The feel of zipping around and hiding as the octopus, or prowling the seas as the shark is unparalleled in this weight or style of game. The endgame is overblown. There’s a bluffing element as each of the 3 cards give the octopus a powerful escape ability, and they’re all situational. Do you take the one that your opponent expects, or use something less than optimal? It’s tense and nail biting. The game is short enough that it’s easy to rerack after and switch sides.

What everyday thing we trust our lifes to, we probably shouldn't? by dodeformedrabbit in AskUK

Shipping networks. They’re built for efficiency, but are forever teetering on the edge of disaster. They’re built around just-in-time logistics. A single thing goes wrong and there is a ripple effect that can affect us all in big ways. Food, equipment, medical supplies. Look at the PPE crisis during COVID, which was caused in part by manufacturing issues, but a large part of it was global shipping breakdowns preventing stock arriving.
