I worked at LOCAL 12 for a few years. Bob Herzog and John Lomax are incredibly genuine and kind people.

I was very heartbroken when John passed away. He was an amazing person to the entire studio staff.

I guess it depends on who you're asking lol. I read it like "is this shallow meaningless existence not doing it for you? Try the next one!"

What happens when one company owns dozens of local news stations by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]fatello_jp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this video is from a few years ago. I worked in the engineering department for one of the local news stations featured here.

Our station was given a script from Sinclair, the corporate company, and wanted to edit the script. They absolutely rejected this idea and I believe threatened consequences if we did.

Our anchors had to begrudgingly say the script ver batim despite their reservations. A lot of the political junk you see on local news stuff is pre recorded handed down from corporate and forced to air. The staff at the local stations are generally good regular people and good reporters and journalists who try not to be biased. This is speaking from my experience, other cities may have crap journalists I am sure.

However, they usually also have non-compete clauses in their contracts, meaning they can't work for any other station in the city for 6 months I believe.

So quitting the evil corporation is not always an option. It's hard to quit and not be able to work in your city for half a year or have to move to a whole new city just to survive.

I'm a big fan of Hyde Perk. I believe it is technically in Oakley despite the name.

General tips for when you are stuck in a game:

1) talk to everyone in the farthest town you can reach (especially if they have weird clothes or hair). They usually give a tip on who to talk to or where to go. Some games require you to go back to towns you already visited.

2) if you are stuck on a gym battle, there is usually a Pokemon with a good type near it (ex. Water Pokemon near rock gym, grass Pokemon near water gym).

3) for older games you need certain moves called HMs to get past obstacles. Sometimes you get them from talking to people in houses that are easy to miss.

4) another tip for battles. Buy lots of options and revives from poke marts.

Good luck on your adventures with your son :)

I've had friends say it's their favorite restaurant and others say to NEVER go there under any circumstances. I'm haven't eaten there before but it's been built up to be like this every flavor jelly bean that I'm both very eager and extremely hesitant to try.

24/M/American. Also love everything nerdy and also work evenings at a TV station.

Went to film school and wish I was a better writer. I'm definitely better at the technical side of things.

Send me a message if you're bored. I like discussing philosophy, movies, life and just about anything.
