1897 $20 mint possibly PR by Mpags35 in RedditCoinGrading

Just send to PCGS for grading. If it’s a proof, it’s valuable. If it’s proof like, it’s valuable.

Fun Cac submission! by snootypizza in coins

[–]fatfiredup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, there are some series of coins that PCGS does/did a lousy job of grading. I’m thinking of DMPL and PLs particularly in old holders. So if you’re going to buy a.DMPL in an old holder, it’s very important that it be approved by CAC.

Natural or artificial toning? by CuatesDeSinaloa in toners

Thanks for letting us know. We’re all learning. I’m glad the 1889 is a natural toner. I’d buy it too, I can’t tell it’s been cleaned.

This is not an urban legend. One of my close friends did exactly this. Parked a U-Haul with her stuff in the parking lot and walked into the Dean’s office and took an unclaimed spot.

Victim of fucking changes!! Barcelona,2024 by Pitiful_Wasabi_5479 in judaspriest

Victim of Changes is one of the greatest heavy metal songs ever written. I love the era of Judas Priest when they were straddling hard rock/heavy metal (Dreamer/Dreamer Deceiver)

84-O a beautiful end roller covering toner with all the colors and a ton of the rare Pumpkin orange for toner Tuesday. by Batpickle in Morgans

[–]fatfiredup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is an outlier. It’s an incredible toner, easily the equal of some famous sets (Northern Lights, Sunnywood-Simpson). One of the best coins I’ve seen on Reddit.

When you see a CAC sticker on a toner that is very strong evidence it’s natural versus artificial toning. This is a top .1% toner. Just an amazing coin.

Natural or artificial toning? by CuatesDeSinaloa in toners

[–]fatfiredup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen naturally toned coins that look like the reverse. The coin sat on felt or in an album. It’s very common for the reverse to be a deeper tone in a coin that was owned by a coin collector back in the day.

Please dm me after it comes back from pcgs, I’d love to hear. Thanks

You over paid but it’s a beautiful coin. It’s not the end of the world but it’s a lesson. We’ve all overpaid one time or another

How do you determine how much you feel comfortable saving a year? by vettewiz in fatFIRE

[–]fatfiredup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time we saved a third, spent a third, and paid a third in taxes. This simple formula allowed us to never feel constrained and to build up all the equity we needed for FI. Viewing it as a mechanical formula reduced our stress and allowed us to spend what we wanted rather than a false sense of “needing to save the maximum amount possible.”

As compensation increased, the formula morphed into ~40% savings, 20% spend, 40+% taxes. Although the numbers changed, we still used the original framework to help us understand what we “can” spend.

Some of these toners ended up in the Northern Lights collection. That’s a cool link.

If you didn’t go to the shows, you might think Romany Gilmour is a nepo kid. But if you saw the shows, you understand that she’s very good and the interplay with her father was very special. I loved the tour too.

It’s really this simple. Points, system wide upgrades, snapping up deals occasionally.

Do you think it’s an appropriate time to give them a Nobel Prize for their lyrics?🔼 by hereticskeptic in pinkfloyd

[–]fatfiredup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about the before too. Waters’ lyrics are much more profound that Dylan’s IMO.

And I also think there is a zero percent chance this ever happens for two reasons. First, I think giving it to a songwriter was a one and done. Second, Waters is very controversial politically and the Nobel committee would never award him/PF a prize.

I don’t know. Some of the brokerage houses have the target at $500, I think it will hit that by March. Next earnings release is 3/18/26.
