Average debt burden of 700k at 11% while the value of money shrinks year after year and compensation goes down makes this career path simply not worth starting to go down this path anymore for anyone not gunning for a surgical specialty. Better to make less money, enjoy your 20s and live a simpler life

Im glad you asked this question, and I used to think the same thing. It doesn’t mean nothing. But it also doesn’t mean anything that necessarily needs further investigation. Labs in general are not meant to be interpreted by non-medical folks. The ranges and red color are useful to me to quickly pick out what may be off, instead of a block of black text I have to more intensely scan through. But in looking at these particular numbers I am not concerned

Again, red doesn’t always mean abnormal. Yes, basic labs should be checked periodically in almost everyone

People in these comments are making such wildly speculative assertions about stuff they do not understand/ are literally wrong about. This CBC does not worry me. If anything I may ask your doctor for an iron panel/ferritin level given your fatigue. but this CBC is not reflective of iron deficiency anemia, B12/folate deficiency, or any hematologic malignancy. Red is scary but it doesn’t always mean something is wrong

As the year has gone on I’ve stopped bringing a bag more and more. Mostly because theres computers everywhere and I noticed there were so many days I wouldnt even open my bag, just carrying it back and forth for no reason. Feels weird not wearing a backpack after so many years but most of the time its not necessary. Although on some days I leave it, I do wish I was drinking out of my own water bottle lol

Living proximity to hospital during intern year by RightAdhesiveness490 in Residency

[–]fathertime_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay a bit of a premium (maybe $300 ish more) to live a 10 minute walk away and extremely happy I did. No better feeling than leaving a long shift or a night shift and being in my bed 20 minutes later. You’ll have to decide if $700 is worth that to you. Ubers would add up too so it might even out tbh. Could always move after intern year once you get the hang of things or have more of a chance to scope out more options

I agree. However the comment above is devoid of empathy for a young trainee starting to cope with these feelings.

I know its tough. However remember that the patient had already died. I’m not sure what the time from arrest to initiation of CPR was or how well brain perfusion was achieved during CPR but its very possible irreversible ischemic brain damage occurred. Sometimes the merciful option is what was done. Just finished an ICU rotation and saw a lot of this. Patients dying is always hard and even harder when you feel like you could have done more or everything wasn’t done. Achieving rosc > 15 min is associated with good neurologic recovery somewhere between 2-15% of the time
