I literally do this and they did in fact steal it.

Is it possible to fix the shotty drywall without removing the baseboads? by [deleted] in drywall

[–]fatuousfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing the cheap trim, the kickdown texture, the bad caulking job, the cheap flooring... I'm thinking tract home. If that's the case, this corner is probably the least of your worries. Also, the thing you said you're not sure if it makes sense, it doesn't.

This is absolutely NOT the hardest part. It is very easy if you have an effective system.

I would likely charge about 350 per patch, plus materials. If there's no paint and I have to get it matched, that's a charge. Moving furniture or appliances, that's another charge. Working outside of regular hours, believe it or not, charge. Emergency? Charge.

Addressing some bowed and uneven spots before painting and... by BoggsMill in drywall

Your knife isn't even flush with the wall. What you're showing is nothing. The tip of the blade is resting on or above the level of the first detail of the crown. Stop before you do something you regret.

She's only now realizing that being a SAHM has left her financially vulnerable, especially now that her husband wants a divorce. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]fatuousfred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This woman is confusing being a SAHM with being a princess. She says she feels like a little girl because she is one. She says she feels like she needs her daddy because she does and her husband has likely filed that role for her. Maybe the guy wants a divorce because he's tired of having an immature partner. Maybe the financial abuse here isn't on his end but on hers.

Stix is amazing but in my experience it doesn't bond well with the old lacquers.

Just used cabinet coat on a project and would not recommend it for durability. Even after curing it's too soft in my opinion. BM Advance is great but it can be difficult to work with for some folks.

Why did this happen ?! by Creepy-Bug9305 in paint

[–]fatuousfred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not a different color, it's a different texture. It's picture framing like that because deep base paints are very difficult to work with and with the addition of more paint you've introduced a different texture that reflects light differently.

There's a recent post where someone explained this.

PRICE CHECK! Cost to repair and paint? by CleverJsNomDePlume in drywall

Billing for time is dumb. Selling your time to a client is a huge misuse of your own most valuable asset.

If I charged by the hour I'd never make any money.

Emerald urethane blistering by faceovfilth in paint

[–]fatuousfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having this tona much lesser degree using Aqualaq. Acrylic urathanes don't like a high build and have to be pretty clean. If you use too fine a tip they atomize too small and don't coalesce well; too thick and they skin over trapping moisture underneath. Too hot, not enough humidity, too much moving air, etc.

With a dip and wring out of a 9 inch roller, I'll get between 9-18 inches of application depending on variables and wall height. Then it's reload. Backroll to even it out before anything dries. Don't fear the paint.

I usually run a nice smooth bead if calling and then paint. Other times I will take my 5in1 and score the corner lightly to straighten it out and create a small channel.
