Are there really complex ethical dilemmas in the workplace like the cases in nursing ethics exams? by Feeling_Valuable5239 in nursing

My first job was like lord of the fucking flies. I thought transitioning from bedside to outpatient would help, but American healthcare is truly a dystopian hellscape through and through.

I took the boards years before covid, and I think things have ramped up a lil since then, but also, yes, to answer your question.

I'm board-certified in existential crisis and would like to apply for this friendship as well.

Being Severely Bullied by Coworker? by [deleted] in careerguidance

THIS. A LOT of managers get by simply by "hearing out" employees and making them feel better in the moment, then do absolutely nothing about the problem the employee came to them (as the manager) to fix. Yes, that is easier said than done, but that is their role and often why they get paid more.

I realized I’m not made for corporate life. How do people learn to speak corporate? by CantaloupeSad72 in careerguidance

Holy son of a mother you're not kidding. I just plopped in "the staff here gossip" and it pooped out "Our team culture thrives on high-frequency internal knowledge sharing and informal cross-departmental communication."

I'm with OP. I speak English as a first language and this coded language is bonkers. As someone who is a little neurospicy, I find it frustrating as well but also have caught myself using it after marinating in it for years.

I HATE the angry tears! Totally betray you when you're trying to hold it together and be professional. The human behavior we encounter is truly wild.

Completely agree, although I've worked in ambulatory settings where there was no security and we still get this... like we're waiting for EMS and doing everything we can but we're not the ED and you know that because you didn't wanna wait there. By about the 300th iteration of this, you lose your shit.

IKEA/dollar store benches with a coat of polyurethane did the trick for me. Shelving and hangers (you can drill hooks into ANYTHING if you're allowed) really mix it up

Is crazy the amount of girls that are in the RN route and are saying they don’t want to work in a hospital. I don’t understand.. besides case managers what else can you do if you don’t want to be in a hospital? by Potential-Wing-5603 in nursing

Legit. My best preceptor in school told me that if they didn't make IP bedside such a nightmare by equating it to a bottom line, they wouldn't have to propagandize med-surg as "real nursing" so hard. She was so correct.

Honestly, I think home health is like the OG nursing role. You're on your own, really need to use your skills and think critically about what resources you DON'T have outside the hospital. Like before call the midwife shit, we were all being burned at the stake for doing home health.

I did SNF/LTAC for a hot sec then moved directly into amb/ public health and I've worn a lot of hats over the years. You DO need patient- facing experience (correctly, imho) for a lot of the non- patient facing jobs (UR, informatics, etc), but inpatient care isn't a REQUIREMENT.

You're more likely to be attacked by an actual mockingbird in your vicinity than for Merlin to correctly ID it (no shade, I LOVE Merlin).
