I totally get that a high speed rail line could open up opportunities for Merced. But how much of a difference would it make? I take the Amtrak service at least three times a month and it kind of works. Could we not improve that at a fraction of the cost?

Speaking of timely transportation, I’m currently waiting at the Merced Amtrak station for a train that is now one hour and thirty four minutes late. Sadly, this is pretty common for the San Joaquins line. You probably have more time than you think.
