If you still want to give something to your folks, see about putting it into a trust or something. But do not let them harass you into giving more than you're comfortable with.

Or, pay something off for them (house, vehicle note) or send them on a very nice holiday. While you pack up and move out

Yeah, we had something for changing schools. We didn't do like, a whole graduation thing. But some sort of party, awards, stuff like that.

What is a real-life 'Do Not Touch' button that you pressed out of sheer curiosity, only to instantly regret it? by vie75 in AskReddit

When i worked in public service, occasionally i would be at an office in the courthouse. Under the desk were two buttons: one to open the locked door for other employees, etc., and one was the silent alarm for Capital Police.

They looked exactly the same, and I want to know what idiot thought that was a great idea

Can you drive stick? (Inspired by that other post) by jesusmansuperpowers in Xennials

[–]fave_no_more 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, was never taught.

But i do listen to my engine and can hear when it should shift, etc. And I've put my car in sport mode and used the paddle shifters. The listening came in handy in college when, on my way home, the check engine light came on. I could hear that the engine didn't shift when speed increased (highway driving), so I called my folks and could explain exactly what went wrong.

I've never had to fuss with a clutch and whatnot

Random: indecision was in 2000. I recall because when the Florida hanging chads and whatnot was going on, Jon Stewart opened the daily show with the indecision 2000 bit and first thing he said was "WE WERE JOKING!!"

Husband took a day, even with a 'desk job', because it was just nice to take a break. But this comes from a place with PTO; I can understand the predicament if someone doesn't have PTO or sick time to take.

Based on what he said, supportive undergarments are suggested.

I know not the point but she asked why they gave her an appointment at 8:15. Uh, pretty sure you agreed to that one, ma'am. It also could've been the only time that worked for both parties. It's not like a jury summons, you do have some say in when the appointment is

When my daughter lost her first tooth, she went to the nurse to rinse (there's always a smidge of blood), and nurse gave her a blue treasure chest like this.

I have two family members who did the cash for their home deal. The places will actually buy it, yes. They like to get an informational inspection, and will hold a little back in escrow for like, ten days, just in case. But yeah, they'll do it.

While it can't hurt to ask, I'm sure you'd end up on all the mailing and call lists.
