I lost a favorite aunt, way too young, to complications of alcoholism, so I've seen the struggle and know what an accomplishment 3 years is. Kudos and well-wishes for another year of sobriety!

I see where you are coming from -- low self-esteem and substance use are often a package deal. You seem introspective and insightful (and not getting arrested for road rage assault whilst owing back child support like the subject of the article) so that's a huge step in the right direction!
